TomTom 940 LIVE - Bootloop at Legal Agreement

Good morning,

I recently came into possession of a TomTom 940 LIVE and I am having an issue with being unable to get past the "I agree" legal agreement screen. When I press "I agree", the device freezes and reboots.

NC 9.541 has been updated through TomTom HOME and the maps are installed on a 32GB SDHC card. Bootloader is 5.5242

I have tried:
1. A full soft reset, going through the BIOS screen, and leaving the device for a few minutes before hitting "I agree".
2. Installing the maps on the internal memory and removing the SDHC.
3. If no map is installed, the device sits on "No Maps Installed" and doesn't reboot.
4. Full wipe and reinstall of the NavCore through TomTom HOME doesn't solve the issue.

The problem might be linked to the ASR "support_asr.dat" fix as I did apply that after updating the NavCore but I will have to test later tonight.

Any suggestions on a cause and fix?

Try running clearflash.exe 3 times allowing a reboot between each run:-

Clearflash didn't help the problem, nor did removing "support_asr.dat".

I reinstalled the NC from HOME and added a map to the internal memory - I can now get past the "I agree" screen without problem and into the map but my voices aren't working now (they don't show up in fastactivate either).

Any thoughts?

All sorted. I'll repeat what everyone always says on this forum - Make a full windows explorer backup of your device before messing with it.

I restored the files back to how I received the unit and did a factory reset. I then updated via TomTom Home and added the new maps. Used fastactivate and everything works as it should.

Not sure what the issue was before, maybe some key files are missing from the HOME NC install for the 940 LIVE - no idea.

The problem is back.

It is linked to opening the map of Europe 1070_10874. The UK map 1070_10875 opens fine with no issues on the internal storage and SD card but the unit hangs and crashes when using the Europe map on the SD card.

I just dumped all the speedcam files into the Europe map, do I need to cherry pick what files I add for the speedcams?

Yes, only install the speedcams that are relevant to the Europe map otherwise you'll have problems...as you've already found out

Thanks for confirming, I'll sort through the speedcam files tonight and report back.
