TomTom Automatic Navcore Installation

OK, this is what I found out using the SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb navcore on my XXL 550 device.

After I tried both clean and overwrites of the navcore many of times I noticed that the any sounds don't function at all both in the media player and the LoquendoTTS "computer voices" also in the Voices "recorded sounds". I installed the VocalizerTTS_English__US__Samantha "computer voice" into the root of the TT drive under VocalizerTTS, after the reboot I can hear the speaker from the TT activate by the clicking sound it makes, the VocalizerTTS_English__US__Samantha "computer voice" I choose and run the sound test and it works.

So to recap the only sound that works is the VocalizerTTS_English__US__Samantha "computer voice" no other seems to work but for the occasional "recored voice" from time to time. The media player does not work ever.

Any useful help on finding a fix for all the sound issues is welcome.

Can you confirm that the *.exe Automatic Navcore Installation will NOT update my bootloader. I do not want to change the bootloader.

May I ask why not?

It's for my TomTom700. Bootloader is already 5.5022 (harddisk replaced by CFcard 8GB) Now running App. 7.903 + v870.3417. Somehow I never managed to update this one to v8 Navcore + maps with ALG. It always locked up after reboot.

I have updated TT One v2 and v3 to Navcore 8.562 with v875 maps with ALG. Not sure if 8.562 will work on TT700. That's why I will try with v8.412. The funny thing is that I could install v8 on TT700 but on restart it locks up (did do the hard reset)

Once V8 is on TT700 and you hook up to USB port of PC the screen that says "Want to connect to your computer" YES/NO never comes. I have a working backup so I will format the CF and give it another try.

What is the best v8 Navcore for TT700 if you wanna use maps with ALG ?

For a Go700 i recommend navcore v 8.412

Now it's working on my old TT700

1. CF 8GB formatted with SD Formatter 3.1
2. Installed Navcore 8.412SE (but kept bootloader 5.5022)
3. Installed map v875.3671
4. Fastactivate :)

2. The correct bootloader for 8.412 is 5.5128, which is an excellent bootloader for all devices.

Bootloader was updated from original v5.4201 to v5.5022 to support the 8GB CF card. Good to know that 5.5128 is ok for all devices. Maybe I will do this one later ;-)

FFR, there is no problem upping the bootloader on a GO.
As far as we know, Navitotal has never "bricked" a unit as a result of bad advice.

TT700 is running (driving :) ) fine with ALG. I understand that bootloader 5.5128 is better match for my new Navcore. My next step is to update the bootloader. Thanks for sharing the expertise. Much appreciated.

1. Bootloader 5.5128 is part of 8.412, so YES it is a better match. FFR, each navcore has it's own bootloader included.

Renamed file system5.5128 to system + reboot.
Succesfully updated bootloader :)
