Hi, first off, thank you for this thread, it seems to be exactly what I was looking for.

But I need to know, will the OP still apply to update a tomtom one (small screen), or has the procedure changed since last year ?

Which navcore I have to use ? And which map version to use ?
Maybe if someone could run through the steps to go about would be awesome.

Many thanx for helping me with this, as I am a total newbie when it comes to updating my nav.

edit :
it is a tomtom one N14644, but don't know which maps, navcore and such to use. also, how do I patch the map ?

edit :

Seems to be using app 8.041 and map western eur 830.2306.
I don't know if this is a third edition device or not, so I don't know if navcore 8.412 will work or not, and which map to use.

It is not my nav, but a friends, so I really need to be sure not to muck things up, so any guidelines would be very nice :-)

Go here: TomTom Current Config for newbies {29.09.2011} Read the instructions carefully. Download & run this little program & post your results here.

Strange thing is, I cannot find this appversion number in the list posted here :

or here :

Maybe I'm wrong, but those maps should work, no ?

ok, so what does it mean ? I can't update the map on that thing ?

what does this mean (quote from thread) :
"Only the new PDA maps will work as you need at least Navcore 8.2xx for the full featured maps."

It means:

1. You are stuck with navcore 8.041 for the life of your ONE.

2. To use a new map, download & install the special pre-patched "PNDNavigator 8.041".

3. "Only the new PDA maps will work as you need at least Navcore 8.2xx for the full featured maps"?? Look at the chart at the top of All New Maps 880.XXXX post 1. You will notice that to use a full featured (the items in the columns under Features) map, you must have navcore 8.2XX or higher. The last 2 columns are the maps (the 6 Green rows) that will work with PDA devices . Since you are stuck with 8.041, you can only use maps that form PDA green rows.

Hi, I have NEVER done an update like this and never been to a site like this.

I apologize in advance if this is considered a stupid question.

This unit is a TomTom One N14644

TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom ONE
DeviceVersionHW=ONE (v8)
BootLoaderVersion=55136
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8083
ApplicationVersion=9669
CurrentMap=
CurrentMapVersion=0.0

The maps were messed up so I tried this tool.

Oh my, I think I did it now... I got an error it said that the
memory may be full so I only had the choice to cancel.

Can someone help me please.

Should I have deleted all the files currently on the device?

Thank you for your help.

I need USA_and_Canada maps please.

I downloaded and attempted to run:

SE_Navcore.8.412.1236_32mb_devices
(Got this error: device might be full)

880 maps with automatic installer and FastActivate
(got this error: error unpacking error3: corrupted setup file!)

neither worked.

Now the device will not load past the tt one screen when it loads.

I sure hope I didn't mess this thing up :(

You can use the attached and patched one for the 8.041

Mon Jan 02, 2012 4:57 am

Thank you for the link.
So I just copy this file to the root of the unit ?

Mon Jan 02, 2012 7:51 am

No, you have to use winrar first to unpck it, than the content of the rar file goes in the root of your device - confirm to overwrite.
Please keep in mind to make a prpoer backup first using Windows Explorer.
