TomTom Automatic Navcore Installation

Postby Downunder35m » Wed Jan 19, 2011 2:06 am

Use a Navcore that is more suited for your device.
Why are you using the Rider Navcore on a 64mb full featured device?
I suggest to use a 9.160, 9.058 or 9.014 instead of the 9.205.

Delete everything but the map folder. Copy your backup into your 730. Download http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/9.205.rider3.CAB-navcore-RIDER.cab &

X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1. Copy the .cab files & only the ttsystem file from the ttsystem .rar into your unit, overwriting any common files.

The 32mb_devices.rar downloads add extras needed by 32MB devices, but not 64MB units.

I install all navcores on my 720 this way, including 9.205, which is on it now.

I tried to install 9.160 as well but, it's still got a same problem... can't find mp3 files...
both of 9.205 and 9.160 is working in my device perfectly except mp3 problem.
anyway thank you guys... I'll set back to original navcore then try next time...

Installing 9.205 as instructed in post 197 will solve your mp3 issue.

Hello All,
I have a ToTom XXL 540 and the only thing that really annoys me is that Auto Zoom is enabled by default and there is no way to disable it. TT Support confirm this..

I installed SE_Navcore.9.150.554646_64mb_devices (Widescreen ONLY) using the Automatic Navcore Installation and joy of joys Auto Zoom can be disabled.

The joy was shortlived as I now can not get any voices or sounds to work. I have searched, but so far have not been able to find a solution.

Can anybody confirm that this navcore is compatable with the XXL540 and are voices, especially computer voices possible with this navcore / unit combination.

Evereything else is perfect..

Cheers, Oldace..

Yes the above navcore should be fine for your unit (If you wish to stick with it please inform us how you installed the voices and what ones), BUT i recommend using 9.205 .cab and matching SE ttsystem file , try this combination and then come back and let us know how you got on ;)

1. If you stay with 9.150, remove it, copy your backup onto the unit, then reinstall 9.150 on top of it, overwriting any common files.
2. If you take djc's suggestion, do the same as above, except install the 9.205 .cab & only the ttsystem & the PNDNavigator files in the .rar download.

Thanks djc151084 and trendriver. Sorry for the delay in answering but I was away for the weekend.

I have tried both suggestions but still have problems with sound. It is not just the voices but all sound, eg when setting up speed warnings Etc - No sound..!! The only sound I get is the TomTom Drums following a reset.

I started with the original setup then installed V9.150 and V9.205 over the top, replacing any duplicated files. It starts and runs well but no sound. I tried copying the LoquendoTTS folder from my backup but no luck ???

G,Day Aiken Drum, We are getting somewhere...!!! I had tried hard resets without success but since renaming system files as suggested I have sound and voices but only "Normal Voices" are working, not the computer voices.

I prefer Simon (English UK) but selecting him or any other computer voices snags the sound. I can test a non-computer voice but as soon as I select a computer voice I can not test it and the sound is lost...???

It appears that it is the computer voices causing the problem.

Cheers, Oldace.

Aiken Drum & oldlace,

Confirm that you both are using navcore .cab + pre-patched ttsystem/PNDNavigator files & not Basicpack files.

Confirmed. - Using the files suggested.

It is only the computer voices giving problems. I prefer the spoken street names feature. Selecting one seems to crash the sound setup completely.??

Aiken Drum wrote:The 9.205 .cab file and the matching SE ttsystem file did not work for the XXL550, it put the screen into a vertical roll. Tried it with the matching SE ttsystem and then the matching SE ttsystem and SE pndnavigator, both after restoring the XXL550 to original state with the backup. For now I'm back to the SE_Navcore.9.150.554646_64mb_devices. Thanks for your help.

I am surprised as my XXL540 is running V9.205 very happily.
I have gained the ability to Enable\Disable the Auto Zoom feature that I was really after but unfortunately have lost the ability to use any of the computer voices. It appears to me to be a clash with the LoquendoTTS setup.???
I am getting used to life without Spoken Street Names.
It is simply a compromise between Auto Zoom disabled or Spoken Street Names. Disable Auto Zoom is the winner at present.

Guys,

May I make a suggestion? Start over. Delete everything but the map folder. Copy your backup into the XXLs. Once you have restored & have you units functioning as they should, then follow these instructions exactly. If you encounter a problem, don't "tinker" on your own. Ask for help.

• Do a Backup before attempting any upgrade using windows explorer.
  • DO NOT DELETE YOUR CURRENT SETUP!!!! DO NOT USE AN AUTO INSTALL!!!
  • Download XXXX.cab and copy the complete contents to your device/SD card, overwriting any common files.
  • Download pre-patched ttsystem file & and copy the only the ttsystem + PNDNavigator (if present) to your device/SD card, overwriting when prompted.
  • Download your required map (Check the map/navcore chart to determine compatibillity) Unzip & copy the map folder to your device.
  • Download the current version of FastActivate and copy the .exe to the root of your device, Run the .exe to patch the map.
  • Done
