Firstly Hi, new member here.

After reading this thread am I right in thinking that the optimum setup for my TT One XL is navcore 9.205 with UK map 870.3417?

I'm awaiting a 4gb card so I'm limited in what I can do at the moment but I was going to update the navcore to 9.205 whilst still using UK and Ireland 845.2667 (the original card isn't big enough for 3417).

On reading the map chart 870.3463 has CSpeech is that possible on my hardware or is it possible to have spoken street names another way?

TT One XL, Navcore 8.010, Bootloader 5.5237, GPS 1.21, Map 845.2667 UK and Ireland

Cheers in advance

1. This setup is not optimum, but it is OK.
2. OK. What size is your currrent card?
3. CSpeech/ASR is so you can talk to your device. You XL does not have a mike, so this feature is no help to you. You can use a map with IQ/ALG. Spoken street names requires a computer voice.

Thanks for the quick response tendriver, what would you class as the optimum NC and what extra features would 9.205 have over it for the sake of (I'm guessing) a drop in performance?

It's the original TT card mate, I'm guessing it's around 256/512mb, it holds the 845.2667 UK and Ireland map but falls short by about 40mb when trying the 3417 map

Ahh, I thought the CSpeech was spoken street names, excuse my ignorance although it's maybe a good thing mine doesn't have a mike, the amount of swearing I do at it at the moment for not having streets that are now 3-4 years old.

Edit, it's a 256mb card

1. 9.205 is fine, it is the map that I was referring to. 3417 does not have IQ/ALG.
2. OK
3. LOL!!!

I was under the impression that the One XL (32mb) didn't have enough grunt to run IQ/ALG, is this correct? If it can what map would you suggest?

Thanks again for your time

32MB is not enuf "grunt" for Loquendo computer voices, but no problem for IQ/ALG. UK & ROI 870.3413

Thanks !!! works perfect.
I must post this to encourage other that may be afraid to try this.
This is what I did. 1Copy all your tomtom files including the hided ones to a folder to save it.2 insert a 2gb memory in the tomtom and copy all the files back to the memory including the hided ones.3 run navcore on the tomtom memory.4 open the tomtom memory files, look for the activate icon and run it. 5 done… enjoy a new tomtom gps unit with a lot more things to play with like music,pictures etc. and if you want go back to stock just boot the tomtom without the memory card. Sorry for the bad English and thanks again

1. This step is not necessary, unless you are updating your internal memory.
2. Just copy & paste all the internal files directly onto the card.
3. This is only necessary after a "clean" install to create a ttgo.bif file, which is needed for patching a map and or navcore.
4. OK
5. OK

I am curious to know why you did this, since you don't mention installling a new map and/or navcore.

Cheers tendriver, top resource, installed 9.205 and I've downloaded map 3413 and a vocalizer voice awaiting the 4gb card. Some good features on this navcore, postcode search quick menu will be very handy.

Thanks again

Hello to everyone. I'm brand new here as you can see from my number of post. I was given really old Tom Tom (my cousin bought a new one so he gave it to me) It's a Tom Tom ONE XL 4S00.000 and I used a tool from one friend of this forum to check the config of it, here is the result:
TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom ONE XL
DeviceVersionHW=ONE XL
BootLoaderVersion=53026
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7130
ApplicationVersion=8476
TTGO.BAK:
Not Found...
TTGO.ORI:
Not Found...

I have some questions. I want to upgrade the system and the map of this GPS. I think there are photos or some data of my cousin on it. I checked with Windows Explorer and it's a 1GB built in memory and there is only about 80MB free left. Ok, so I want to wipe out and install/set up a clean one with a newest map. To my understanding after reading some posts on this forum, it looks like I need to upgrade the app called "Navcore" before I can put in the new map, right? Could anyone show me how I can start? like step by step cause I'm slow. It looks like I can use the latest navcore since my GPS screen is bigger than 4 inches and it's like a wide screen not the square one. I'm in North America, the US, so if you have the new map of it, that would be great. Much appreciate. I'm new so I apologize if I asked something not quite obey the policies here in this forum.
Thank you in advacne and best wish

Look on the bottom of the XL's case. There should be a SC card slot, with or without a card in it. If so, I suggest you invest $10 dollars on a 4 GB SDHC card, so you can install a bigger & better US map.

I do have a card and I also checked the size of the map of US and Canada, it's only about 800MB so I guess I'll go with it. But I need a guide to upgrade the system and put a new map in correctly. I mean I want to make best out of this GPS. Any help would be greatly appreciate.

To make the best out of it, you need to use a card. What size is the one you have? The map that you are looking at is a stripped down version to fit on a 1GB memory.
