My Tomtom Cant find Gps signal

Postby mouclito » Wed Oct 16, 2013 9:12 am

Hi,

My TT device suddenly stopped catching GPS signal and I cannot make it work again. I took it to a repair center and the told me it was a software problem. I have reinstalled the software and maps but still cannot get a satellite signal. Apart from not caching a gps signal the rest of the device functions are working properly. Any help??

Thanks!!

Did you update the GPS quick fix data with Home?

If you deleted all than the GPS data is gone too.
Updating saves you a lot of time waiting to get a signal.
After the update you should get your position within a few seconds under clear sky.

Ok, I guess I will have to replace the device. I just wanted to know if it was fixable as at the Tonik GPS repair centre they assured me it was a software problem. Thanks for all the help!

Cheers!

You may have already tried this. Attached is the current QuickGPSfix folder. Replace your ephem folder with the attached one.

I had the same problem, format TT in fat32 and repeat installation according instructions from here. Now works fine.

We NEVER recommend formating a unit, except in the most severe cases!!

He could surely try a clean install by deleting everything on his TT except the folders, restarting it to create ttgo.bif and connecting it to TT Home and installing all NC's he gets and of course the quickgpsfix.

It should get a signal then if it is not a hardware problem.
Just switch it on outside in the open air and give it a few minutes to get a good reading.

This is way too radical for a QuickGPSfix issue. It is like saying, rebuild your auto's drive train, because you have a flat tyre!!
