TomTom XL help

Sat Jun 09, 2012 6:21 pm

Hello,

Ive been given a tom tom XL. It needs updating.

One thing i really want to change is that when entering an address, it asks for a postcode, but not the full postcode just the first bit then you have to enter a street name. I'd like to be able to use a full postcode. Which NavCore should i use?

Thanks.

It would help to know what navcore & map are currently on the unit.

BTW, postcode is a map feature, not a navcore feature.

LATEST POSTCODES Version 890 (GREAT BRITAIN, NEDERLAND & SINGAPORE) Postcode V890
Extract and copy the "Zip" folder to the root of your TomTom.

Thanks Tendriver.

I went to 'Show version' and here's what i got:

App: 8.415 Os: 344750
Map: Western and Central Europe 2GB v. 845.2645

I like the layout so i guess i could get away with not changing the NavCore and just changing the map to a one which accepts full postcode?

Can you point me to the tutorial on how to just add a new map and keep the same navcore?

Ive had a look at the other tutorials and cant seem to find the one I need.

Current W&CE map requires 4GB of memory. You can use full postcode on any map with Postcode V890 installed.

So which GB map should use which is under 2GB and has postcodes?

Also can you point me to the tutorial on how to just add a new map and keep the same navcore?

Ive had a look at the other tutorials and cant seem to find the one I need.

1. GB = Gigabyte or Great Britain?

2. It is so simple, that a tut isn't necessary.

Download & unzip the new map.
Cut the old map folder from the device.
Copy the new map folder into the device.
Go here: AutoActivate & FastActivate 1.8.8.6 Read the instructions. Download FastActivate Premium. Run FA & click the first three buttons one at a time, from left to right.
disconnect & reboot.

The ONLY 890 UK & ROI map that is available & is below 2GB is version 4234. This map doesn't have any features.

Don't worry about full postcodes. I have posted twice about how to fix the issue, but you don't seem to be paying attention.
