I was looking at one of the latest Garmins a few weeks ago and the detail was excellent, when you passed a landmark like a river or a lake etc a little text box popped up with the name on it.
I don't know why TomTom never integrated this, it is interesting if you are passing a landmark to know what it is. I had it in my two previous cars also with built in Sat Nav (Vauxhall and BMW)
There is very little detail on the TomTom maps, I just bought the 1005 live as it advertized "Richer Maps" but I see nothing different in terms of map content, they even show very few steet names also.
The google live search is a great feature but it is also flawed
