TomTom One 140 IQ Routes Edition won't boot..!

Postby JeVeeHa » Sat Jul 13, 2013 7:42 pm

Hai All,

Earlier this week my dad handed me his TomTom One IQRE because it froze up on him.
He didn't use it for about a year so when he needed it he thought it would be best to update the device.
After updating it powered up showing the TomTom-logo, then the yellow loading bar came up and after that it went back to the TTlogo again. It refused to shut down unless the resetbutton was pushed for +/- 20secs.
It also gave an error when trying to 'operate my device', and the one time it did work it said that the maps were not found.

I've been trying to fix this issue for 3 days in a row now, but it just won't work the way it should.
Steps taken so far:

-Tried to update it using TT Home, no updates available.
-Formatted disk and installed Navcore 8.010.9369 with restored Benelux map, same result.
-Formatted again, installed NC9.053 with same restored map folder, still nothing.
-Another format, installed NC 9.510 (most recent) and downloaded Benelux map with FastActivate, after that it booted, let me choose some settings and as soon as I entered the time it got stuck again, seemed to be loading for awhile and then rebooted back to TT logo screen.

Also tried all kinds of variations, using ClearFlash and what not.. It just won't give!

Did manage to get it to the point where it can be operated with TTHome again, it also finds the maps etc.
As soon as I disconnect it from my notebook it won't do anything but show the TTlogo as I mentioned before.
Also the bootloader version appears to be different, but read something about this being emulated and that it could just be ignored? To be fair I'm a bit lost, I just don't know where to look next! Is there anyone here who has had this issue before and can help me fix it? Would be very much appreciated!

Here's the content of TTgo.bif:

[TomTomGo]
DeviceName=TomTom ONE IQ Routes Edition
DeviceVersionHW=ONE IQ Routes Edition
DeviceSerialNumber=PSxxxxxxxxxx
DeviceUniqueID=AKXXX XXXXX
RamDiskVersion=20130404
BootLoaderVersion=10012
LinuxVersion=1000
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9510
ApplicationVersion=1234792.1-2039
UserLanguage=Nederlands
CurrentMap=benelux
CurrentMapVersion=910.4892

And here's the 'bios' if you will:

5559

All sugggestions are welcome! Thanks in advance..

1. We never recommend formatting a unit except in the most severe cases.
2. "operate my device" is just an emulation/simulation & should not be used for troubleshooting.
3. Using "operate my device" will always show bootloader 10012. The actual installed bootloader is 5.5136.
4. 9.510 is the current navcore for this device. 910.4892 maps are compatible with this navcore.
5. Look for a .meta.dct file in the map folder to confirm that the map is patched. No .meta.dct = map not patched. Put FastActivate & a copy of the device's ttgo.bif file in the map folder & run option 2 to patch the map..
6. If the map is patched, confirm that the navcore is patched by downloading this pre-patched 9.510 SE ttsystem.rar & copying the 2 files to the root, overwriting any common files.
7. Disconnect & reboot.

.meta.dtc is present in map folder, also repatched ttgo.bif in map folder.
copied ttsystem + model file to root directory, rebooted...

Doesn't seem to have any affect what so ever, only difference is the screen turning green for a few seconds before reboot..

You said you formated the device, that is never a good choice for troubleshooting, especially not if done several times.
But you did not mention what file system you used.
I can't figure out how you installed the things and if you used the correct files.
If the reboot is not caused by map problems you only have two options left for the fault:
a) incomplete or faulty Navcore corrupted files for example)
b) hardware failure

Only way to rule out all but hardware is by doing a clean install on an empty device - using TT Home.
Also make sure the device uses the FAT/Fat32 filesystem and nothing else.
Once the device starts with a genuine NC and complains about missing maps we can pursue other options.

You can't patch or repatch a ttgo.bif file, because a new ttgo.bif file is created everytime a device is booted or re-booted.

Does this scenario & fix apply to your issue?
Rebooting or freezing after a map update or changes to some map related files like POI's.

It is a common problem caused by the file "mapsettings.cfg", when moving it from an old map folder to a new map folder.
To get a correct version of this file without loosing your favorites connect your Tomtom to
Tomtom Home and use "operate my Go" to manually add a favorite - you can choose any address you like.
Exit and restart your TomTom, which now has a rewritten "mapsettings.cfg" file.
If everything works fine, you can delete the newly added "dummy" favorite.

I am having the very same problems advised by OP. Model one IQ Routes Edition A full wipe in FAT32 and then connect to HOME will install a v8.145 firmware update and then ask to reboot automatically. The issues lies here at the reboot point you cant go through the setup further than setting up the time before Tom hanging and rebooting forcefully.

If you connect to pc again if says new update available v9.51 but here after installing it fails to reboot.. and I assume because of failing to restart with the new firmware it cannot generate a new ttgo.bif which puts you in a silly situation.

Any advice? I dont have a backup of any maps but have found and trying to use one which is Europe_West_875_3675 which is the one for one IQ based on v8.14 firm which i got from this link http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?7000-All-Maps-875.XXXX.

Hope someone can help me or point me into the right direction Thanks.

Tom One IQ routes edition..full wipe in fat32...reload software v8.145 from HOME and then it asks to reboot which is ok because it generates a ttgo.bif file...and then if you unplug and use it it loads up till the point where you set the time and then hangs and reboots.
If you force start into HOME it will tell you of new update v9.510, after download and install if will fail to reboot into it and thats when it all starts.
There is no maps because i lost mine somewhere down the line before but am downloading various one to mix and see which one is ok. Can anybody suggest or point me into a direction that works fine just to boot it up properly and then so I can make a backup.
http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?7000-All-Maps-875.XXXX this is the map im looking at because the chart shows iq feature and covers all possible version numbers. im focussed on europe west 875.3675. Tell me if I am wrong
