nominds,

use a version 8xxx navcore. I have found all version 9xxx navcores to be a bit heavy for ONE models, and one reason is that they do use up a lot of RAM (similar to what Windows Vista does as opposed to Windows XP).
Try downloading 8.412 from the link above. It is a popular choice for most ONE devices and will give you more free RAM than a 9xxx navcore will.
Or even better, find navcore 8.562 SE which I use with my little TomTom ONE. It gives me 8Mb free RAM!! That's more than any other navcore will give you on a 32Mb ONE device.
TomTom GO 730, Navcore 9.051c, 64Mb RAM, Australia 900.4602, Bootloader: 5.5250
TomTom ONE v1, Navcore 9.170SE, 32Mb RAM, Australia 900.4602, Bootloader: 5.5244

1. Gosh, I guess I linked you there in order to answer your question. I'm sorry, but I missed the numerous times you mentioned in this thread exactly where you got the nav 9!!!!!

@ lemoni,

If your signature is correct, how much free RAM do you have on the 730?

Thanx. Very interesting. The TT team was running 5-6MB of free RAM on GO units w/8.351 and/or 9.xxx navcores, prior to 9.051. From that navcore on, we have been running 17MB +.

BTW, numerous members with wide screen, 32MB RAM units have installed 9.205 successfully. LoquendoTTS voices are an issue. VocalizerTTS voices are Ok.

You're welcome tendriver.

I've tried many 9xxx navcores for the 32Mb ONE, such as 9.026, 9.051, 9.053 and 9.101. I haven't tried the 9.205 yet, but I have found that all the 9xxx navcores have noticeable lag, especially when switching pages in the menu and when recalculating the route.

The 8.562 SE navcore is very fast in switching menu pages, in fact it's instant! It doesn't have any noticeable lag. I'm even using TTS with it and still getting in between 5 to 6MB free ram, or 8MB free ram without TTS.

With the 9xxx navcores, there was less free RAM, even though they still worked ok. After trying the 8.562 SE navcore on the ONE, I couldn't go back to the 9xxx navcores. I couldn't see any advantage in doing so.

By the way, the 8.562 SE runs in x40light2 emulation, instead of the more common x40light mode.

Of course we know that x40 is standard for big screens & X40light is for small screens.
X40light2 & X40light3 save RAM by shutting down features
