TomTom One 4N00.012 version: how to update?

Postby Antigenone » Fri Aug 05, 2016 12:43 pm

Hi to all,

my Tom Tom is a 4N00.012 version, I think that it's a V4 but i'm not sure.

It has 32MB of ram.

I have bought from a friend but it's without the SD that has been lost, and is obsolete, never updated.

I need to reinstall all, from NavCore to maps.

Someone can explain me the exact procedure to obtain a TomTom as new?

I know that the first pass is upgrading the BootLoader, but what is the best version for my tom tom?

Thanks very much

The best way to restore the device is to let TomTom Home software do it for you...after that you can come back and we can look into what map you need.

TomTom provide instructions on how to do that [Please Register or Login to download file]

Click on the 'I don't have a map to download' link and follow the steps but stop at step 4 as you'll be able to download a new map from here.

You can give this one a try.

But for a TomTom One is not better use the original NavCore? Oldest but more compatible with the lack of ram memory of that navigator (32 MB)

No this one is special made for 32MB devices but you can always use the original Navcore.

But it's necessary that i update my bootloader?

I read that some people suggest to update the bootloader, other that tell that is not necessary... in conclusion what to do?

In the scenario that is necessary update, what is the best for my tom tom?

And there is the possibility to find and use with 100 % compatibility the 970 (the last update?) for my Tom Tom One? Or not? (i'm searching the europe map)

Thanks

You already have a higher bootloader you said 5.5285. So you don,t have to update anymore.

1) Reset The Device (minimal 15 sec) and start it till the announcement "No map found"
--
2) Choise a map from the 970.7467 serie
maps-v9xx-f179/all-new-maps-970-971-t18710.html
--
3) Be sure that you have the right map.
Is there a meta from the map you want to use.
maps-v9xx-f179/meta-codes-970-971-t18709.html
No meta then you can not use the map.
--
Copie the chosen map to your Device SD Card in his own folder.
If you open the map you see the loose files and probably a folder (brand).
Not a map in a map.
--
4) Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your TomTom device root (internal or SD Card).
noref.php?url=http://linkcrypt.ws/dir/m24dq269u7183k4
Run "FastActivate.exe".
     Select 2 and Done

I changed the boot loader to the last official : 5.3029

But it seem to not support 8 GB SD card :-(

I have done an error to downgrade?

But 5.528 it's real the best for my tom tom one ?

Another question, i have 7.903 navcore, based on the compatibility:

- 970.7467 is not compatible

It's not better go with a compatible map like:

-970.7468

Can you explain what are the differences betwen 970.7468... 7467... 7491 etc... ?

Thanks very much for your help!

First you have bootloader 5.5285 and dan you have downgraded it. I don,t belive it.
first check your bootloader
Checking bootloader (the only reliable method)
Enter a device reset 15 sec.
Then turn on the device and hold the start button until you
get info screen. Which bootloader is there.

And don,t jump from one navcore to another navcore. I give you the advise to use the 9.500 But if you
want to use the 7.903 that is fine to me but you have to go further on your one. If you want to use SD Cards > then 2GB you have to update the bootloader succes.

Yes I have downgrade.

I have download and used a 0.0001 bootloader can delete all and reinstall the default bootloader.

When i check i see : 5.3029 that is the last official bootloader, but it don't read my SDHC 8 gb memory.

What is the better bootloader to instal?

And regarding my question about the better map for my navcore 7.903? It's not the 970.7468 or 7490? (if i'm not wrong... my tom tom don't support voice recognition)

For the navcore 7903 you need the 7490 and for the bootloader the 5.5022.
So I give you enough to read I going to finisch. It seems to me that you have your own knowlodge.

Don,t talk about Risk do you really think that bootloader 0.0001 is an official bootloader.
So stick to the official bootloader 5.3029 and use a normal SD Card from maximal 2GB.
Some clever people in the past (many years ago) find out that the best bootloader for devices
with a bootloader under the 5.5022 (except 1.xxxx) was the 5.5022 so you could use SD cards
bigger then 2GB till at least 16GB

Thanks for your help.

My only question is the better bootloader, i want to done a good work.

With the 0.0001 bootloader i restored the default bootloader with HOME that update it to the last, but it don't read the SD >2GB.

I tried to find the differences between different bootloader but it's so difficult find info.

Now i want to update it, but i want to chose the right, your suggestion is 5.5022 ?
