Hi

I am a bit of a newbiw when it comes to SatNav updating.


I will soon be nipping to Germany for a day and would like to use my TomTom One XL to get me there and back :-)


My OneXL has UK and Ireland maps pre-installed but no Europe. I am Guessing that all I need is Western Europe.

I have downloaded a a W Europe Map from a torrent site and having read this site copied everything, from the TomTom, excepting the Uk&Ireland map to an SD card and added the new map.

The TomTom does not now boot with the CD card...

The map i have got is

Europe_2GB_870_3391

The other stuff is the bog standard software pre-installed on the ONE XL

I am guessing i have thw wrong map version, can anyone advise what is the correct version and give a pointer where to d/l it or advise what am i doing wrong?

1. For quality control reasons, we do not give support for maps or navcores downloaded elsewhere, except TomTom.com.
2. All New Maps 895.XXXX There is a chart in post 1 that shows map & navcore compatibility.

If you download your stuff elsewhere, please ask for help in the same spot.

I have now downloaded the Europe_1GB_North_895_4444 map file as advertised on this site...

(it is north i want)

I have copied all the folders from my TomTom One XL to my SD card except the uk map folder.

I have added FASTACTIVATE latest version and executed this in the root (and in the Europe_1GB_North_895_4444 folder)

When i switch on my TT it comes up "No maps found"

Any clues?

What navcore & map do you have on the internal?

Not sure how to check the Navcore but the Navcore on the SD is just copied over from the internal...

Not a problem. Run TomTom Current Configuration {29.09.2011} on the internal & the SD card. Post the result for each one here.

It means a lot!! NONE of the 890 or 895 maps are compatible with a navcore older than 7.8XX!! You have 7.162!!

I have repeated FastActivate on the SD card because that seemed a sensible idea.

It now loads up and says

"Problem with map You cannot use this map on this device: Europe_1GB_North"


I never realised this thing could cause so much mither!

Cancel - Got it working now, by another dose of fastactivate

The bold print items tell us that you have a patching issue. Look for a .meta.dct file in the Europe_1GB_North map folder. No meta.dct file = Map not patched. Put the current FA + a copy of your XL's ttgo.bif file in the Europe_1GB_North folder & run the map patch option only.

meta.dct file = Map patched Then 8.010 is not patched. Patch it with FA in the root of the card.

Disconnect & reboot.
