Tomtom One XL no longer starting up properly

Postby g12345567 » Fri Jul 19, 2013 3:36 pm

I have a problem with my TomTom one XL 32mb GPS where when I turn it on it keeps booting into the Choose Language screen and then freezing when I choose one of the languages on the next YES/NO screen and wouldn't proceed any further.

I thought the software might be corrupt so I reformatted the memory card and reloaded the navcore I was previously running.
9.450se and running an update via TomTom home.

Now when the TomTom is turned on and starts up it gets stuck in an endless loop just displaying the TomTom logo on screen and then rebooting. Only way to turn of/stop this is use a pin and press rest button on base of TomTom.

Also run TT clear flash tool but that didn't fix anything. Any ideas on what has happened or ideas on how to fix it?

Please run TomTom Current Configuration {13.11.2011} & post the results here.

1. We never recommend formatting, except in the most severe cases.
2. BootLoaderVersion=0 Have you been changing bootloaders?
3. TTCC does not see a map. What map are you using & where is it loaded?

I ended up formatting the memory card to fat32. Thus delete all the content. So I could start again from scratch

Since the later navcore versions with newer bootloader versions are needed to support SDHC memory cards. I am currently running a class 4 Sandisk 4gb SDHD memory card.

I had downloaded two SE 9.4xx navcores versions for my TomTom

Navcore v9.450 - with ram boost/swap file for 32mb ram TomTom: I am sure this was the one I was running but when I reinstalled this version, it just got stuck in an endless loop just displaying the TomTom logo then rebooting.

Navcore v9.485: When I reinstalled this one on the SD memory card, copied over the map and activated it everything worked. I was able to run through the initial startup setup without any freezing and everything seems to be working fine now.

Not sure what the difference is between the two navcores or wht v4.950 was not working. At least my TomTom is now working again with the later one.

Here is what now shows up after running
TomTom Current Configuration

TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom ONE XL
DeviceVersionHW=ONE XL
BootLoaderVersion=55136
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9485
ApplicationVersion=1074274.98
CurrentMap=Australia 910.4892
CurrentMapVersion=910.4892

Thanx for the update.
1. Formatting is not necessary to just delete the contents.
2. Bootloader 5.5012 & higher support SDHC cards. You have 5.5136, so you can use any card that you desire.

Just wanted to make double sure everything was deleted incluiding any hidden files that may have been causing the problems.

From feedback I got in another forum other 32mb tomtom users were also reporting problems with navcore v9.450. All good now with navcore v9.485.

All the updates and file transfers were done using an external usb2 card reader. Since my tomtom is a first generation widescreen model and only has slow old USB1.1

Thanx for the update.
Formatting creates a hardship for whichever memory, internal or external, you are working with. Open the memory that you wish to clean. Click Edit, then "Select All", then click the delete key. Everything is now deleted from the topic memory.

How can we help if you spread your problem all over Navitotal?
We don't know what might be wrong untill you explain you problem in detail.

Then do the right thing,
delete all from the device and do a clean install of Navcore and map.
10 minutes later you are up and running....
