tomtom one xl no maps...at all

guys i was here last time and you rocked when i buggered up my tomtom iq thingy............ive come back for some more help

i came by a tomtom one xl which is in fab condition but it had no card in it,ive now got a card (1gb sd) but no idea how to get a map and install patch etc.....please help me as im satnavless and being a roadside mechanic in dark and scary cornwall its a bit of a bugger

the easiest way would be to connect to Home and update the device to the latest official Navcore.
Add voices and a map of your choice, activate the map and patch the Navcore with the latest version of FastActivate.
If you decide to go for a higher Navcore make a backup when all is working and add the Navcore of your choice.
I uploaded a 8.414 with TTS support as a full backup if you want to try, already patched, all you need is adding a map.

i connected and updated it as you said,i dl the map 8 something,dragged into the root and used the activator thingy....now it boots.,shows the disk and loading line then turns off again...thats all it will do....any ideas?

Try a hard reset (hold reset butto for 30+ sec or if no reset button the power button).
After that use the TT Clear Flash tool.
If you have problems connecting to the PC, connect first and than turn the TT on.

1. Never post your device's Unique ID or Serial #. I edited them out of your post above.
2. I see you have navcore 8.010. What map are you using.
3. When you unzip a downloaded map, it creates it's own properly named folder. That folder goes in the internal root or SD card root, as the cast may be.

If you have navcore 8.010 installed as indicated in post 5, then the problem is solved. 875.3613 maps require navcore 8.2XX or higher.

But where to put the map in Navigator (Which folder) if it is download manual??

You are triying to run a navcore 8.414 on a bootloader 1.0012. And that doesn't work. Bootloader 1.0012 only supports navcores up to version 8.041. And this navcore only supports maps without ALG, IQ-routes etc...

So your options are limited.

Update your navcore to this 8.414 version, that Downunder alluded to in post 2, then you should be good to go with your 3613 map.

Read ALL of the instructions carefully!!! Download the SMALL version. 1 of the files is titled system5.5130. That is bootloader 5.5130. To up your 10012 to this bootloader, rename the file to system by deleting the 5.5130. YES, it is safe to do this!!!!
