I would like to update the maps if possible and considering the Eastern US Canada - 1015.9156 map. If I follow the chart correctly this map should run on the device. I could very well be wrong and would appreciate any advice.

My question is when I install the new maps do I basically remove the entire contents presently residing on the device? I then place the folder of the new maps on the device in its folder as currently seen with my current map before I cleared its contents or do I retain the contents, only removing the old map folder and placing the new folder in its place. Not sure if the device will have enough space to allow the maps to be installed.

I have been able to install Canada-Alaska 1015-9156 map and its working and loads up. I have not done a road test yet, but functions seem to work. I will be attempting to install a second separate map US Northeast 1015-9156 but not sure how one activates a second map on the device. The second map of US Northeast should allow me enough space to put it on the device but activation will be my problem I suspect.

Anyhow, will see how things progress.

Sure the activation will be your most worse problem, due to there is NO meta for this map available
Normaly it's NOT a problem to activate 2 or more maps at the same time.
It's just the same as with activating speedcams, voices and so on

Well, went for a road test. The Canada Alaska 1015-9156 map worked. All streets were correct on map, but the voice announcements for streets out of 15 different roads were called out differently and only 3 were called correctly. Not sure why but directions were all correct to my destinations.

As far as the North East US map 1015-9156 is a problem with regards to getting it activated with the DCT file. Guess will have to look around for a suitable map with the meta file and yet still leave me space to get it installed on the 1 gig limit of the device with the current Canada Alaska map in the device.

I have removed the Canada Alaska 1015-9156 map and replaced it with the Canada Alaska 1015-9109 map realizing that with the 9156 map the audio was not supported. Once I got the 9109 map it had numerous audio speech files. I have not tested it yet, but suspect it will work considering the extra files in the 9109 map file.

Again, I now will search for a file for North East US or similar which can be activated and still install on my limited devices storage space but seems to be limited options for files with a meta.txt file.

It's quite simple if you watch the meta.txt file, there you'll see which maps are easy to patch

Thank you for your reply...I have been watching and trying to find an appropriate map. I only have 557 mb total space left on device so am limited to smaller area maps and since I live near Niagara Falls the North East US map would be the easiest for size wise to install. Thanks again and will keep looking for a map with a meta.txt file.

May I suggest you to search for any GO model with an SD slot ?
I'm quite sure there are enough to find at Ebay ?

Yes, I realize the limitations with this device because of its storage limits. My daughter rec'd it obviously for free and wants to use it for local venues so of course myself having the time to play with it...and update it, it seems the limitations make it difficult to add anything with the current maps available for the device.
