TomTom One XL Not picking up satellites

Postby chas521 » Mon Jul 23, 2012 1:50 pm

Guys,
I did this for my friend's One XL awhile ago http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?8302-8.412-Setup It just needs the bootloader to be changed on the device internal itself to be able to read from a SD card.

Before you install it, I think it's probably best to post what bootloader you have on your internal. Then ask here to find out what bootloader you might need instead.

I forgot to say correction add, I saw that sometime ago and it didn't work, so I am downloading the automatic navcore 8.412 as I have never used that one, with map 890.4234. Plus downunder sat nav fix.

I will post back the results.

As I recall, his didn't work with 8.010. I had to use a different bootloader. Plus, I used an earlier map set.

EDIT: I think the number was something like 5.? like that if I remember. Sorry if I got some numbers wrong here. It's been a while since I did it.

Bootloader: Easy. Download bootloader 5.5022 or 5.5128 (recommended) and place it on either the internal memory of the one XL or on a small (<2GB) SD card. Reboot your Tomtom and let it update its bootloader automatically.
You can download it from many sources, but I would advise to download it from Tomtom directly. Since they do not offer bootloaders separatately, download the cab for navcore 8.412 which contains bootloader 5.5128:

Code:

[Please Register or Login to download file]

Open this cab and copy the file SYSTEM (Not TTSYSTEM) to your tomtom. This is the file which will write the new bootloader into the EPROM once restarted. Ensure that the battery of your Tomtom is fully charged before doing this.

Other issue, TTS on 8.010: There are probably ways that tomtom has prevented this, but nothing stops you from using SE Navcore 8.417 or SE 8.562 which are patched in all ways. They will even be snappier than 9.026 since your Tomtom has only 32 MB and 266 MHz of CPU.

One more thing: a 4GB SD card is not really standard and it might be possible that it does not work even after the bootloader upgrade. 4 GB and bigger cards should always be SDHC spec. Simple SD cards officially go up to 2 GB.
Get a Class4 or Class6 card for proper performance.

thanks to heijx

You have posted 3 different bootloaders. Going to a higher version is not a problem. You can't go down to a lower version unless you intentionally force it. Are you working on more than 1 device?

Well, I have given up on post 52, downloading NC 8.410 and use map 890.4234.

Have nothing else to do!
