TomTom one Postcodes

Postby orange1234 » Thu Apr 10, 2014 10:13 pm

Hello, I hope one of you clever dudes can help me. I have a TomTom one and the postcodes aren't working. I have been persevering by entering street name etc now I'd like to use postcodes as it used to be far easier when I had it before, and it took me the right place more often.

To describe the problem - on entering a postcode it accepts the first 3 digits L21 and ignores the rest, then I have to search by street name.

I found "tom tom tools" and thought FastActive would sort it out but I can't see an option for postcodes on it.

I have downloaded uk postcodes in a zip. There were other countries there, I omitted them and just copied UK into the root of the sd card.

What should I do next ?

The postcode fix, for your issue, can be found under the compatibility chart in post #1 of every Navitotal map thread or post #2 of every Navitotal map collection thread.

The 2 postcode files need to be in a folder named ' zip ' on the root of your tomtom.

Thanks Russ, I spent an hour looking round for the compatibility chart that TenDriver suggested and in frustration I went back to fast activate and pressed every patch in the hope one would work. Then I saw your post copied the zip folder into the root of the card and now IT WORKS

For anyone who is not completely familiar with this forum, or unsure what to do

Download the postcodes

There should be a folder on the SD card called Zip, in that folder is where the postcodes live.

(if like me you thought zip refers to the 'archive extension' and just copied the contents of the folder to the SD card it won't work. ZIP I have just realised is the American-ism ZIP CODE // POST CODE

I hope this info kindly given by RUSS will save you about an hour. as It takes 30 seconds to implement.

THANK YOU RUSS

My apologies for not making the instructions clearer. I did not realize that we have members that can't find the Navitotal map threads or the Navitotal map collection threads.

H Tendriver, I didn't intend to snub you, I'm just not familiar with forums. I did use the search, and searched "navitotal map" and then asked my partner to help me look for the place you suggested, from all the results. Just as he was about to come over, I spotted Russ's post. I guess I need a Tom Tom to navigate around this place too.

I hope my amateur instructions will help someone who has the same problem in future.
I'd just like to thank you and everyone on this site - Awesome stuff!!!

3. Perhaps you could try a 'link' to the place you want people to go to next time - very much like a road sign with an arrow.

1. A little logical thinking works quite well.
Maps for TomTom
> Maps v7.XX, > Maps v8.XX, > Maps v9XX
and/or General Discussions about TomTom are good places to look.
There are numerous Navitotal map/map collection threads in both.
2. You are the first member that could not find the referenced threads.
3. Same answer as point 2.

I will say though, the new clean and clear layout of the forum is great, I may have had more chance in finding stuff on this one.

This post has been editted as a result of the editting of posts 8 & 10.
