I have a One XL v1 (32mb RAM version with 1gb internal storage and SD card slot). The unit recently had all files on its internal memory but I have copied all files over to a 2gb SD card.
I have installed the latest version of TT HOME and let it update the navcore to v8.010 (9369/080529 - btw -what do the numbers mean?!). I have also manually updated the bootloader to v5.5242. The unit currently has the prehistoric Western_Europe_1GB v715.1689 which I'm wanting to update to a mapset which is compatible with the 8.010 Navcore. I have downloaded Western_Europe_1GB(910.4952) mapset and want to install and activate it using Fast Activate.
However, before I do that, I would be grateful for some clarity on map folders. I have a folder on the SD card called 'Western_Europe_1GB' with all map, speedcam, POI data files etc in. BUT, I also have a folder called 'maps' which has a single file in it called "Western_Europe_1GB.tlv". Standard procedure is, prior to attempting to transfer the new map folder and files and attempting any activation, you should "Delete the old map folder.". My question is simply: I assume I should delete the folder entitled 'Western_Europe_1GB' (after all, this is the folder for the map! ) but....what should I do re the other folder called 'maps' with the .tlv file in which clearly relates to the currently installed map?
If left in place, will a new .tlv file relating to the new map be created as part of the Fast Activate routine to replace the old one? If deleted, will the unit look for a .tlv similar .tlv file relating to the new map? Anything I should pay particular attention to when trying to use Fast Activate or any order of steps recommended?
Sorry if I'm being dumb but just want to be clear before I proceed.
PS. I've found a 16gb SDHC card lying about. Once I've sorted the above out and got it working satisfacorily, I'd like to upgrade to the v9.170 SE Navcore and use a larger, more fully featured mapset with IQRoutes, ALG, ASR, TTS, HNR etc. I know it's overkill as the mapset I want to use is 2-3gb but...will the unit, now it has the 5.5242 bootloader, read/see/run from a 16gb SDHC (class 4) card? Or is the limit 4gb?
PPS. I assume that, now I have transferred all from from the unit's internal memory to the SD card, I can delete all files on the unit without fear of the unit being unable to read and run from the SD card and thus render me in unbootable and unusable territory..?!
Thanks to all those who can help. Any advice very gratefully received..!
