Try running option 6 on FA and see if that helps

I'm assuming you used FastActivate (FA) to activate your map....with your device plugged in, run option 6 on FA which is: Update QuickGPS Fix

Then see how it goes

I seem to be having the same problem. I recently managed to install a recent NAVCORE v9, specifically modded for 32mb one XLs, and even managed to get a recent map which I could activate AND be able to use in the PND...

...so everything works, except a GPS fix. I'm starting to think the antenna is broken, because it's not giving me anything at all =(

Were you getting QuickGPSfix updates before you updated your XL?

One is entitled to hijack one's own thread!!
Has it been solved or is it still an issue?

Sorry for the hijack.

Read somewhere else that plotting a 'demo route' near your location sometimes tricks the GPS into finding satellites. No luck here though, it's been over half a day and I got... one small grey bar. It doesn't seem to want to see satellites somehow.

I'm led to believe my unit is faulty. Or hopelessly stubborn, at least :033:

A repeat from post 7. "Were you getting QuickGPSfix updates before you updated your XL?"
Open your unit's ephem folder & check the dates on the 3 files in it.

Yes, I did. All files are dated 26-07-2014 (yesterday). FastActivate's procedures also ran without problems.

I left the tomtom scanning near the large kitchen window overnight, to no avail. It even lost the one grey bar it was showing yesterday

I'm going to try one last full wipe of the darn thing and see if I can get it going with a map on the 'original' v.8.0.1.0 that tomtom (home) supplies to my XL - in which I didn't succeed earlier, because it refused to actually load any map I put on it.

But to be honest, I don't expect it to make much difference.

As above, 3 files and still a problem.

What would be handy is TomTom's fix for the problem they had on the 01 April 2012...

I do not know my sat chip, it might work, who knows!
