1. Your map is current.
2. Have a look at Downunder's "fixed" 9.510 navcore in the Navcore sub-forum.

I think it's better to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and then copy all to your backup.

The reason for that is TomTom have only just released their new version 960 maps which you can buy from them direct if you want it right now, alternatively you'll have to wait until the meta data becomes available in the near future.

The navcore is the operating system of your device. You already have 8.010 which is officially supported by TomTom for your model. If you want to experiment with a different one then follow Tendrivers advice in post #2 above.

Follow Hamish's advice above for backing up

No, you don't HAVE TO. Your map is current, and you can install a new navcore over the top of 8010, overwriting any common files.

WTG!!!
If your unit is running smoothly, I suggest you upgrade your map to UK & ROI 955_6746. This will give you IQRoutes & ALG!!!
Also if you want to ever use a SDHC 4GB card or larger, I suggest that you up your bootloader to 5.5128.
Download & use this [Please Register or Login to download file] . Instructions included.
