Tomtom one - updated does not start

Postby vuurcito » Thu Apr 13, 2017 6:10 pm

Hello all,
I recently updated my TomTom One with NC9.510_DSA_For 32Mb_ram , Map Europe_985_8155
During the update I did not have any problems because I used a 4GB SD card, on the card I installed NavCore and Map

When the TT one is started (disconnected from PC), I get the TT logo, it seems the TT is reading something and I get another TT background (one with road). This background stays for a few minutes and then the TT one shuts down. I do not get the disclaimer to continue as I used to get.
Does anyone know this issue? And what could I do about it?

Hope you can help me!
Best regards,

first check your bootloader
Checking bootloader (the only reliable method)
Enter a device reset 15 sec.
Then turn on the device and hold the start button until you
get info screen. Which bootloader is there.

Hi Holyhead,

DeviceName=TomTom Go
DeviceVersionHW=ONEv4
DeviceSerialNumber=
DeviceUniqueID=
RamDiskVersion=20061211
BootLoaderVersion=505
LinuxVersion=1713
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=6560
ApplicationVersion=7914

This is the old information of my TT but I installed the bootloader 5.5022 and then the NC9.510_DSA_For 32Mb_ram. So current BL is 5.5022.

What happens when you restore the backup...assuming you took one?

All navcore files are in the root of the device?
The map files are in a map folder with the folder in the root of the device?
Did you patch navcore and map?
Did you check the messages fastactivate gave you?

Okay, you should do the following:
remove currentmap.dat from the root of the device.

Did you copy the mapsetting.dat from the mapfolder to the new mapfolder?
Delete it.

If this does not help then run the clear_flash tool a couple of times.

All navcore files are in the root of the device? -The NaVcore from the back up was in the root of the device
The map files are in a map folder with the folder in the root of the device? -Yes, the maps are also in the root of the device (Western Europe v660.)
Did you patch navcore and map? -No, because I want to use an updated version of this TT ( see first post)
Did you check the messages fastactivate gave you?When I put the new NaVcore and the new map on the TT ( I also used the fastactivate) there was no error or problem.

Did you copy the mapsetting.dat from the mapfolder to the new mapfolder?

If this does not help then run the clear_flash tool a couple of times.

I also run the clear_flash tool you mentioned. If you look back at my first post I installed everything on the sd card 4 GB

Well, you do have to patch navcore and map with FastActivate. And you should check to see if it confirms to have patched navcore or map. Scroll to the top if necessary.

So, just to be sure, all map files are in folder x:\Western_Europe? (try to simplify the map folder name to avoid problems)
What about mapsettings.dat and currentmap.dat?

So you have set the backup back and and the TT restarted fine. I suppose that that the TT was stand alone. Now you have an refreshed Biffile. So can you put the biffile her.

Hi all,
To answer the questions of Razorblatter: I suppose you mean that I have to patch the new NC 9.51 and new map 9.85, well I did patch the map (was successful) and the NC was already patched according to FastActivate. All map files are in the folder x:\\Europe9858155 (I deleted the underscores to simplify it as you mentioned). As for mapsettings.dat and currentmap.dat I cannot find these files on the SD card.
As for the question of holyhead: I added the refreshed Bif file to the SD card without results.

To summarise where I am now (with all the actions taken) see below:
The TT has a 1GB internal memory, the original NC and Map where installed in the internal memory. I made a back up of this and put it back when it was requested and the TT worked fine (this is an old NC and map (see picture), therefore I am updating it).
Now I want to work only with an 4GB SD card (so no files on the internal memory), in order to make this work I updated the BL to 5.5022. Both the NC 9.51 and map 985 are installed on the SD card, resulting in the problem I posted in the first post.

You may as well update the old system with TomTom Home software to the latest level and then add a 985 map that suits the navcore...then back it up as is (it may come in useful if all else fails)

Once that is done I'd make sure the format on the SD card is FAT32 (not NTFS) and try the NC 9.510 for 32MB devices again to see what happens

Wait a minute. Is this a TomTom XL with sd card slot? It looks like a 4.3 XL screen on the picture. If so, you have to install the 9.501 navcore for XL even if it is an 32bit device.
Can you give us the first two characters of your device ID? Just to make sure.
A One v4 only has got 1gb internal storage and no sd card slot.

Forget about copying ttgo.bif files. This file is created by your TT at every start. No input is needed from your side.
Post the ttgo.bif (without the specific device id)

This is not a TT XL, the picture is a bit out of scale. My TT mentions 4N00.005 just below tomtom One next to the SD slot.
See below the TT bif file.
