TomTom One - which Navcore

TomTom One - which Navcore

Postby VeeDub » Mon Nov 29, 2010 3:36 am

Hello,

I have a TomTom One which has not been updated in sometime.

Details of the device:

DeviceName=TomTom ONE
DeviceVersionHW=ONE (v6)
BootLoaderVersion=55022
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8016
ApplicationVersion=9380
CurrentMap=Australia
CurrentMapVersion=815.2059

I have made a backup of the device.

I know that the map needs to be updated, I have a new version ready to go.

Would appreciate advice regarding the Navcore

Thanks

VW

Go here: TomTom Automatic Navcore Installation

Select this navcore: SE_Navcore.8.412.1236_32mb_devices.rar

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.

The Navcore update worked and so have the maps.

The owner mentioned that the GPS stopped working about a week ago. We were hoping that the Navcore update might have resolved this, but it hasn't.

The GPS receiver is probably fubar, are there any affordable repair options in Sydney or is time for a new unit?

Confirm that your problem is the unit is not getting a gps lock-on.

How exactly do I do that?

The unit reports that it is not getting a signal, and there is a message saying: "are you inside?" even after I have been outside for 5 minutes.

It's a little tricky to diagnose, because my own unit (that works) frequently takes around 5 minutes to connect at start-up. Perhaps I live in an area with poor reception. However when I return home my unit always stays connected all the way.

Is there a method to make the unit run a diagnostic test?

The GPSFirmwareVersion entry in the ttgo.bif is blank.

Is that significant?

We both know that a device does not stop working for no reason. This unit has a 3.5" screen & a 32MB RAM memory. As bigger maps & bigger navcores are released, it is becoming more and more difficult to load them. Unless it is a simple fix, I would get a new device.
