Map: You have several 870 edition maps to choose from

I chose option #1 with 870.3420 map, and on boot I made it to the "I agree" screen but no farther.
Chose option #3 with same map, and it works very smooth! Thank you very much!!!

I have another "Newbie" question: tt home2 needed to dl a file to work correctly. (I backed up 1st) Anyway I can't operate one through tt home. Is this fixable? If not, I guess I don't really need it anyway.
Last question: tt home says the latest map I can buy is USA 875.3675 ... I guess I don't really understand what new maps are for if you have mapshare? When I plug in, tt home says my map is up-to-date. Why buy another if you already have a good one?
Oh, also upon boot it say that I have a invalid version of the tomtom application installed. Should I just NOT use tt home except for map updates?

Just noticed I don't have IQ Routes :( But Hey, at least it WORKS!! That's 100% better than before Tendriver helped me!!! Thanks again!

You need a bit more training, there are a few things missing, but when you updated your TT a few times you won't even think about it anymore ;)

Home needs to patched in order to use the simulation - you can use FastActivate for that.
You need new maps because mapshare only corrects errors, but can' add new roads or interesections ;)
To get rid of the complaints by Home you need two files in the root of your TT : a ttgo.bak and a ttgo.ori
Both are a simply copy of your current ttgo.bif file, but edited so that the values of the original Navcore are inside and not the values of the installed Navcore.

1. It will be fixed in #3 below.
2. Downunder gave a great answer to this question.
3. To fix version error & "Operate my device" issue.
Open the ttgo.bif file with Notepad.
Replace lines 9 & 10 with these:
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903
ApplicationVersion=9183
Save this change by clicking "File" in the upper left corner of windows explorer, then "Save as" ttgo.bak. At this point, there is only a ttgo.bak file in the root, no ttgo.bif.
Disconnect & reboot. Now you will have a ttgo.bak, a ttgo.bif & a ttgo.ori file in the root & no error message + "Operate my device" should now function.
4. The 870.3420 maps do have IQ. Make sure that it is turned on. Main Menu, Change Preferences, Planning Preferences, IQ Routes.

Upon boot it stills says wrong version.

TT thinks I have the correcet map now !!!! :)

Main Menu, Change Preferences, Planning Preferences I have:
Ask me every time I plan
Always plan fastest routes
" " Shortest
" avoid freeways
" plan walking routess
" " bicycle routes
" " for limited speed
I thought IQ Routes was more than that. If this it it, then I guess I have it :)

Oh on root I do not have ttgo.ori!

Maybe here's the problem? The "ttgo.bif" file is .bif file type and the and the ttgo.bak is text file type.
ttgo.bif
ttgobak.txt

ttgo.bif
ttgobak.txt

Rename ttgobak.txt to ttgo.bak as clearly instructed in post 19, then reboot.

ttgo.bif
ttgobak.txt

After you have made the necessary changes to the .bif file make sure you select "Save As" ....................
Edit: Known incorrect information removed.

(Make sure your settings to "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked.)

I've been trying to do the same on my own TT because it's a bit slow starting up even with a smallish map (UK & ROI) , I suppose it might be expected though considering it's the TT One original with a 4GB SD Card and "LOTS" of POI's (speed cams etc) but the actual TT seems to works ok.

After following your instructions so far, I now no longer get the error message when trying to update the TT in Home, but I do now get a different problem, which is each time I open Home and run the TT on-screen it asks for the various language settings etc to be re-set every time, plus 2 of the maps installed no longer show as being installed.

1 DeviceName=TomTom ONE
2 DeviceVersionHW=ONE (v2)
3 BootLoaderVersion=55244
4 ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8410.....(CHANGED TO 7903)
5 ApplicationVersion=1218...........................(CHANGED TO 9183)
6 CurrentMap=Europe_875_3613
7 CurrentMapVersion=875.3613

Other maps installed=
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3613
Turkey_870_3391
Istanbul_715_1732
Ankara_715_1732

It's been this way for a long long time, so if the message is (leave it alone) then that's fine.

1. There is no need to select "SAVE" first then followed by "Save As", just select "Save As".
2. This is not a good procedure. The ttgo.ori file has different values from the ttgo.bif & ttgo.bak files.
3. Please post the first 15 lines of your .bif, .bak & .ori files.
4. The complete navcore name is 7.903.9183.

I did do exactly as instructed in post #19. I guess I gave you the wrong information. What I meant to describe is: I have ttgo.bak.txt file, file type being text.

Okay, I now have a ttgo.bak & ttgo.bif, BUT no ttgo.ori...

Mon Sep 05, 2011 1:25 pm

@ Tendriver

I did actually try just using the "Save as" function, so yes then had files of different values as recommended, but still no joy with either the TT Home error message on start-up or having to re-input the start-up data each time Home or the TT was used, but. many thanks, I am going to step out of here and let you just deal with "romtang" otherwise it might get confusing.

After all he started the thread and I should not be messing it up for him, plus the minor error I have I can put up with and it does not effect the TT from doing what it's supposed to do (I think).

Although I will still be viewing the thread and see if I can spot where I am going wrong.
(one possibility is with the .ori file not being created automatically with the re-boot so I just copied and re-named the .bak file).

But thanks and bye for now and as always your help and advice is always much appreciated.

Delete the ttgo.bif file, reboot & post the first 10 lines of the ttgo.bif & ttgo.bak files.
