Hi,
I have a TomTom One XL v1 where the green light is turning on but the device won't start. I've tried factory reset, disconnecting battery, etc, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Are there any diagnostics that I can carry out to determine the faulty component?
I'd appreciate any advice that may help here other than throwing it in the bin or selling on for parts.. ;)
Thanks

How long have you been trying?
When was it working for the last time?
Connect it to a charger and give it some rest so that it can switch off completely and you can perhaps make a fresh start/reset.
Remove sd card if present and start (or reset) again.

Try the oldest trick to check if your TT still gets power to the actual electronics and not just the battery:
Use a genuine car charger or something rated at over 1A,
Connect the TT and make sure the charger is powered,
press and hold the reset button for 30+ sec,
turn on the TT.
If nothing at all happens it usually means that a protection diode on the circuit board has blown.
One reason for that is a faulty battery that simply draws to much power over the charger, so you get a green light but nothing else.
It is a rare problem but it happens.
There are a few "guides" on the net that offer a pic of the affected area, but replacing the blown fuse is only possible if you know how to solder SMD parts.

Have already tried the SD card, got the unit on ebay auction so don't know when this last worked. Cheers

This is a perfect example of "BUYER BEWARE"!!!

If not sold as a faulty unit I would use the buyer protection and force a refund :)
