My friend asked me if I could upgrade his TomTom Rider 2ND edition (N14644).
It's in original state (NavCore 7.9 + 3 years old map).
A.
With the enormous amount of navcores available here I feel a bit lost wich one to choose.
9.205 seems to get mentioned alot in combination with the Rider, is it also suited for the Rider 2ND Edition?
B.
I would like to use a 4GB SDHC-card, but current bootloader doesnt support SDHC. Wich bootloader would you recommend?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this.

RJ45 wrote:Hello,
As promised, back with the results:
1. The upgrading of the bootloader: piece of cake.
The new NavCore doesn't function at the moment.
What I have done so far:
- Followed the steps exactly as provided by Tendriver.
2. At powerup the TT then asked for the language, clockstyle, etc. but after choosing the voice the TT freezes and reboots, after wich it asks for the language again.
3. Erased card, done it again, but didn't put a map on it. Then the TT passes the choosing of the voice and stays in the screen "no maps found". The TT then freezes after pressing the powerbutton, while displaying the anti-theftscreen. Then it reboots, asking for language, etc.
4. Reset the device, by pressing the resetbutton for 30 sec. Ran clearflashtool 3 times. Then whole upgrade again.
5. Removed currentmap.dat from the "fresh-made" SDcard.
6. Installed the navcore files from the CAB + patched TTSYSTEM & PNDNavigator on a clean card. Both with and without patched map.
Result is always the same, freezing and rebooting unit. Done numerous hard resets in between steps. (30sec resetbutton)
The old navcore still works.
7. I assumed this means extracting all files from the .CAB with, for example, WinRAR and writing them to the SDcard. To be precise, I extracted the files to a folder on my PC, to work with them more easy.
Any ideas on this?
Thanks in advance for any help.

RJ45 wrote:However I did the procedure exactly as you described, forgot to describe 1 situation. My inaccuracy.
The first time the unit booted, with the new navcore + an "old" 865 Europe map (patched with fastactivate) the infamous "You can not use this map with... etc" appeared.
Not sure wich step I did then, they are not necessarilly, but almost in chronological order.
For some reason I 'm stuck now with a not complete booting unit.
Suppose the new starting point is a TTRider2 with a clean SD card, what steps to take?
Thanks for your time again.

Take a look at Navcore Version 9.400 that came out today. It is for a hand full of devices including the Rider 2

RJ45 wrote:1. I can't see the Rider2 in the list.
TTHome doesnt offer it, when the Rider2 is connected.
The 9.400 CAB wich TTHome downloaded for another device, doesnt function on the Rider2, patched or not, the Rider2 freezes at bootscreen. (not a big surprise to me)
Therefore I 'd tend to say that the NC 9.400 is NOT usable on a Rider2.
The famous NC 8.412 SE runs on the Rider2, but I am not sure if it will support all hardware right. (e.g. I don't have the headset here to test)
2. Has someone NC 9.205 succesfull running om a Rider2 at all?
It only freezes in the Rider2 I have here, but why would that (on earth) be different on another Rider2?
