TomTom XL IQ Routes : Need help for map update

Thu Sep 16, 2010 6:31 pm

Hi,

First, this is my Tomtom config file :

[TomTomGo]
DeviceName=TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition
DeviceVersionHW=XL IQ Routes Edition
BootLoaderVersion=55136
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9025
ApplicationVersion=477770.2
CurrentMap=Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB
CurrentMapVersion=845.2666

I did the last update about 6 months ago.
I would like to update to the lastest Map Version :

Western and Central Europe 2GB 855.2982
; Western & Central Europe_2GB_2GB_855_2982
D2 F8 D8 54 2E B0 EC 86 B4 E1 7E 47 53 8E 5C 45 Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB-210.meta

If i'm right, i have to update to latest Navcore :

9.056.xl2009_plus.CAB-navcore-ONE_XL.cab
9.056.xl2009_plus_tts.CAB-navcore-ONE_XL.cab

Here is my problem, my Tomtom's capacity is a bit less than 2Gb (1.91Gb exactly)
and the latest map is 2.0Gb and more, depending on the version.

How can i update my Tomtom ? I've been using 2Gb maps until now, so why can't i use it again ?

Thank you !

There is no real need to change your navcore unless you want to , as all the v9 navcores look the same and 9.025 has the same navcore/map compatibillity as the newest 9.205 navcore, so this is your choice , but there is automatic navcore installers on this site now if you do want to upgrade , 9.205 should be fine to install on your devicehttp://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?2831-TomTom-Automatic-Navcore-Installation

With the newer 2gb maps there are a few of them what are over 2gb , Tomtom have anounced that to work around this they have introduced map zones, but i think you can only use map zones on purchased maps through tthome, so unless you have the space on your unit you may have to choose a diffrent map. Thank you for your quick reply !
Central Europe was included when i bought the GPS, but is not really necessary, Western Europe will be enough :)
I won't be able to update my GPS with newer Western_and_Central_Europe as my device doesn't have a SD card slot.

All of the Zone maps are posted in the 855 map sticky.

I don't think that it is possible.
I have just used TTHome to download and install map zones and it handles then as separate maps.
Ex: for Wester_Europe_1GB and after downloading each of the 3 zones I find (in ...\Download\complete) a directory for each zone.
Then TTHome can install any of them alternatively on the TT.
The only solution then would be for "you" (or popeye or...) to package each zone separately.

Thanx, but you have answered a 3 month old question about a previous edition (855) map. All has been sorted with the current edition (860).
