Tomtom slow/freezes - Needs full update - Noob needs your he

Hi guys,

As you can see, this is my first post. I got a Tomtom XL IQ Routes 340 a few years ago as a gift from my friend.
It's been fine for all that time, but recently it's been freezing a lot and has been very slow.

I'm going on a trip tomorrow, so I will be needing it. I want to do a full update - i.e. maps, software, cameras etc. I don't have a clue what to do and i'm getting confused with the many different versions, so I'm hoping someone can explain what i need to do.

FYI, here are my tomtom details:-

64Mb Ram

NF mark: NF469-12/29, 12/30, 12/34 to 12/42
Map: Western and Central Europe_2GB v835.2419
Language: English UK


I would be most grateful if you could just give me a quick step-by-step guide and i'll ask questions if i get stuck.

PS: I've already backed up the full internal memory, so i'm good to go.

Your Navcore is good, so simply follow the instructions in the 905 map thread and select a map of your choice - make sure to select a map that has a meta code posted.

By the way: it is not our fault that you need a last minute job ;)

There is not a W&CE map in the current 905 map edition. The usable versions in the last several editions have been over 2GB.
What is your second choice for coverage?

first of all thank you for helping me. The good news is that my trip has been delayed until weekend, so that gives me a bit of time to sort things out.

I only need the latest uk maps and cameras...no european map required.

Then use the full featured UK map and finnish the patching and activating with FastActivate....

Download & unzip United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland v905.4754. Remove your old map folder. Copy the new map folder into your device. Patch it with FastActivate 01.04.2013

If you have not patched 9.465, download & unzip this SE pre-patched ttsystem file. Copy it into your unit, overwriting the currently installed ttsystem file. 9.465 SE ttsystem.rar
Disconnect & reboot.

DONE!!
