Just got a TomTom Start 20. This series no longer uses TomTom Home application but instead uses the MyTomTom web based application.

The Start 20 has a micro SD card slot which I assume would be for installing additional maps.

Latest map for this device is 875.3611.

As the device is new, my question is; will maps devices no longer using Home be available here to download at some stage in the future??

What is your current navcore?

All these models (& probably all from now onwards) use v10 navcore & function through MyTomTom rather than TTHome so although some of these have an SD card slot, I very much doubt these will be "crackable" even with the SD card functioning which TT say will be "this Summer" although they don't yet say what the card slot will be used for.

I bought the Start 20 on the understanding that the SD slot would be/is available for storing other maps. I prefer iinstalling individual maps on separate cards and then insert into unit when needed for my overseas travels. I trust therefore that will be the purpose and function of the card slot

You are right, but only if you intend to buy the maps from TT.
