TomTom Start

Postby Wahwahjahjah » Thu Aug 09, 2012 7:14 am

Hi

When i bought my Start it has NC 9.057 and NZ map 855.2884, then by your generous help i did upgrade
NC to 9.430 and NZ map to 885.4003. All good, many thanks, working ok, but there is a small "but" you maybe can help to sort it out.
Before the upgrade in the right bottom screen corner was displayed ( clockwise) :

Tiny Check "Finish" Flag
Arrival Time
Remain Distance
Time To Go

After the upgrade "Remain Distance" is gone - it's just an empty place now

This week friend of mine gave me his TT Start to do the upgrade: from NC 9.056 NZ map 855.2884 to the same i did for myself and after the upgrade his screen remains with no changes.

I have noticed in Backup Info file after doing a Back Up by TT Home my TT is tts and his Plus - just FYI if it's important.

My bootloader 55274 and his 55273.

I hope i explained myself, tell me if you need any other details

Thanks for advance

1. Did you copy your setup to your friend's device?

2. FYI we never use TT Home for backups. Copy & paste is the preferred method.

Does the bad unit have anything on it, that the good unit doesn't have, like custom pois, music, voices, etc?

If not try coping the good unit setup into the other unit.

Ok, i'll try once i have this "good" unit from friend of mine

But now i remember how i did upgrade his unit:
Back Up mine ( the bad one ) by TT Home
Connect friend's ( the good one ) back it up ( move it from Back Up folder, then delete his TT content ) then use restore option by TT Home

Means his "good unit" using my current TT Back Up, you see ?

What folders of files should i check, as i have my few old Back Ups with "good" settings but again when i'm trying to copy them to my TT - still no remaining distance

Cheers

I seems youz never checked the tutorials or any NC installation guides.
Otherwise you would not use Home for backup and restore as it always be incomplete.

Post #7 and #9 indicate to me that he did not read any of it.
Apart from that the Start NC in standard emulation is pretty limited to what is shown - on the screen and the menu.
And it should be clear that a new Navcore will often affect the appearance of the device, same for modifying options that are hardcoded into the NC.

Sorry, only now i understand that "he" in both your posts is "me"

"Post 9, who knows!!" - again misunderstanding, i just treat your signature as the way to figure it out my current TT settings

Does it mean someone is about to help here or nothing to do ?

Cheers

As said earlier, the Start is pretty limited in what is on offer in the menu and the screen.
Since it is only a small screen TT limits the output to the status bar.
Only otion to get everything would be to use a different emulation, otherwise you have to accept some limitations - it is one of the cheapest models ;)
