Navcore 9.510 is compatible with every map..so that is not the issue

Which leaves two possibilities:
a. the new map (you haven't mentioned which one?) doesn't have a meta code released
b. you haven't patched the navcore yet

I personally use Western Europe v1005.8823 - tested without a problem on multiple devices - but its 2GB.
I beleive if you delete the poi.dat & crpoi.dat files (Both are about 304MB), that would leave enough space to fit into a 2GB device.
I'm not 100% sure if this is a stable option as I have not tried this myself but have heard mixed reports - obviously you would lose all the pre set POIs though.

Hope this helps you a bit!

Fredderf mentioned it already one of the reasons there is no meta code released

The only meta codes available are the ones that are listed here

You're going about this backwards...find a map that suits you and already has a meta code released and then download the map
