Tomtom via 135m

Postby higgy1270 » Sat Nov 23, 2013 12:51 am

I'm thinking of replacing my 720 with a new via 135m.
I know I can't update the maps on here but it comes with lifetime maps.
I like to have a bigger 5" screen.
But I have a few questions.

1. Can I transfer poi's from the 720 to the 135 and vice versa?
2. Does the bluetooth remote control work on the new via 135 ?.
3. Can you use the car symbols I've crated myself.
4. Can I use my tmc charger lead if I buy a adapter to convert it micro to mini usb ?

Thanks.

If your 720 is not giving you problems, I would keep using it. I'm keeping mine until it or I die, whichever one occurs first!!

1. Yes, use the Content transfer assistant.
2. No.
3. AFAIK, yes, see 1.
4. Should be no problem, but they should use the same connectors anyway.
For a good price and with lifetime maps it is worth a consideration, but:
a) I agree wth Tendriver on keeping the old unit as you can simply update it to whatever you want.
b) Using MyDrive and getting all going for the new devices can be pain - check the complaints in the official TT support forum.
c) Having a proper TT that offers a SD as well as internal memory should be good enough ;)

It is up to you, but I don't really see the gain apart from .7" more...

Similar story as XL models love to play up when it comes to forcing more features on them - not always but you can find postings of frustrated users...
Even with a dead battery a 720 outperforms XL models and can be "modded" unlike the new models.
Check similar requests and will always find that a 720,730 or the 520 and 530 are still best choice and best value for money.

Thanks
I'll keep using my 720.
It was going to be a Christmas present from the wife.
Just got to think of something else I want.

A second wife maybe? ;)
But jokes aside, put the money for the dam presents in a can and make a nice holiday instead, X-mas is totally overrated unless you are still a kid and wait for Santa to come down your chimney ;)
