Have the experts posted what they have learned anywhere? It's not like you can't talk to these devices at all. My new 2405 describes itself for me in great detail if I go to "http://169.254.255.1/mpnd/settings" with a web browser (you may need to kill MyTomTom with task manager if you want to try this at home - the "Quit" option is a lie). I know it's a baby step, but it's not quite nothing. I'd really rather not reinvent the wheel. If anyone has any information about communicating with these things, it would be great to share.

Yes, I know it may be a lost cause. But MyTomTom can talk to the gps. So we know it's possible, and I don't want to give up hope just yet.
