If the unit doesn't connect to your computer using TomTom Home, then there is very little that you can do with it.
I do not give help by PM. It deprives our other members of a chance to learn. Please post your issue in the appropriate forum/thread. You will get an answer.

Run [Please Register or Login to download file] little app and post back the results and we can go from there.

9.540 is a mod version of 9.510 for use in the Asian market.
Current UK & ROI map is 965.7250.

Yes, you can update it with the latest available UK & ROI map but you don't need to update the navcore as you've already got the latest one...or at least an Asian version of it which will be ok:

First of all download the following:
[Please Register or Login to download file]
FastActivate
SpeedCams

1. Once all downloaded, backup your device using Windows Explorer
2. Move the old map folder from your device to your desktop
3. Extract new map folder to your device (PW: navitotal)
4. Extract the UK SpeedCams into the new map folder on your device
5. Extract FastActivate to the root of your device
6. Run FastActivate.exe from the device and select options 2 & 3
7. Disconnect device from PC and reboot it....job done
