TomTom XXL 2013 spec

TomTom XXL 2013 spec

Postby davidm_uk » Sun Apr 07, 2013 2:54 pm

I've seen an XXL (2013) UK and Europe spec advertised at Globalgps.co.uk, claiming that this has a higher spec than previous versions, with faster processor and higher resolution screen.

I assume that it's not like the latest models that can't be detected as a drive on Windows PC's?

Halfords are currently selling the XXL UK, ROI and Western Europe at £95, and I can pick it up from my local store, but does anyone know how I can tell if this is the 2013 spec version, or just old stock? I don't trust the staff there to know (or tell me).

Who cares about the specs for a XXL?
If you want a proper TT you can choose between:
520, 530, 540, 720, 730, 740, where the X40 ones are only interesting if you need the Live services and are willing to pay for the service.
The 9XX models are not worth the extra money IMHO

1. It is not listed in the TomTom UK Products list.
2. Globalgps.co.uk
refers to it as a re-build of the classic TomTom XXL unit.
3. It has a 2GB internal memory & no SD slot. ALL of the full Europe maps are over 2GB!!

All 3 of these run up a red flag for me!!!

Thanks all. I've decided to go for the Start 25 with Western Europe maps, and lifetime map updates.

A Start 25 is one of the latest models, that you were concerned about in post 1!!!

Home did not update my map left me with an old 855 loaded.

This is not good news. If it was sold to you as a 2013 rebuild of the old XXL, I would send it back!! BTW a re-build is not the same as a re-furb!!
