Tomtom XXL

Postby Jimpy0 » Mon Sep 09, 2013 11:52 am

Like to say excellent resource people, once i got my head around and finding the bottle to do it, so it wasnt a brick.
Anyhoo my major gripe with my TT is the fact it would never find my house and after many requests and map changes "THEY" never sorted it and now all they say is buy latest maps.
Popped and bopped it and must say am impressed seems faster, but it still wont find my house. My phone via G-maps will, Desire HD. My house number is 169 it will not allow me to enter a number above 155 - just installed UK+I v915.5106 and always points to the middle of the estate, so am no nearer - unless theres a workaround. I know its being pedantic and some might say you know where you live and how to get off your street, but its always annoyed the hell out of me for the last 3 years everytime i use it.

cheers for reading and any apprpriate suggestions .......................

Jim

You can enter a location/favourite by entering exact GPS coordinates.
Is that something which would give you immense satisfaction?

Otherwise, you just have continue asking your loyal hounds to sniff the way home.

Sometimes it is surprising that users no longer make use of Google or other search enignes :(
I simple check on the TT homepage or Google would have shown the problem is with the POSTCODES.
Maybe that's the reason too why NT is offering the latest postcodes for download, but what whould I know.... ;)

I have a friend who once got so drunk he couldn't find his house, from his own back yard :D

I don't think any GPS would've helped in this case!

Next time, copy your mapsettings.cfg file from your old map to your new map.
If no help, then go to: Main Menu, Change preferences, Change Home location, Point on map. You can set your house location right at your FRONT DOOR!!

to add insult to injury just received this email from TT

You recently submitted a TomTom map change through Map Share Reporter. And here’s the good news: we’re adding it to our next map release!

Thanks for taking the time to report the correction. People like you help drivers throughout the TomTom community enjoy even better navigation.

Of course, roads are changing all the time. So if you see anything else on your map that needs to be changed, do tell us. You know it can make a real difference!

only took darn near 3 years and a number of abusive emails to customer services - i won't post the reply i sent when another mail arrived asking if they could close the incident, most of it was highly abusive and full of expletives.

It usually takes just 1 contact with any TT Support function to realize how worthless they are.

No, no that's not true !

It takes at least five of such contacts before any sane mind can even begin to accept to form the beginning of a conclusion that official support of such a global company is truly and utterly worthless !
