I was reading yesterday a lot about samsung sdram chips, and setting could have be stored there I think

No problem at all I will try change this chip before gps chip ( the gps is quite hard job but ... ) :-)

And the problem with the sdram seems to be a common issue for newer tomtom, I have got a lot of starts 1EX00 with same symptoms
