Too Good to be True? Free maps for life

Thu Nov 21, 2013 9:51 am

I have been thinking about getting a new device for a while and saw this one:

[Please Register or Login to download file]

It offers "Europe Maps - Lifetime updates"

This seems too good to be true as TomTom usually charge loads for maps.

Is this a worthwile offer?

Also, will I still be able to use cracked speed cams and fuel prices on this?

Thank you in advance.

Yes, you'd get free updates but only whilst the device is officially supported by TT.

No, you won't be able to use any 'cracked' software (speedcam/fuel prices) on any device that is 2010 or newer

That is frustrating.

My 2006 one V2 is struggling with the newer maps so I am looking at getting a new unit.

Looks like I may have to fork out for speed cams then. :(

It reboots when re-navigating.

Map version 9.15.

Are you using 1 of Downunder's navcore versions modded for the 32MB devices like yours?

Yes I am. It works perfectly until it comes to recalculating the route then 9 times out of 10 it reboots.

I've gone for the new Go 5000. Let's see how long they support the device for.

I don't know about TT, but we can't support it AT ALL!!
