[Discussion] Truck Navcore 9.700/9.701 and current map

Razorblatter wrote:As I gather I need to use a truck navcore (by Downunder) to install on the TT Go 750.
I thought it would work fine with default NC 9.510 and it starts up fine but reboots after approximately 1,5 minute.
(The 905Chart does seem to indicate that a 4798 map works with all NC's above 9.00.)

Read the note in the yellow box at the bottom of the compatibility chart in post 1 of both the 905 map thread & the Latest Europe Truck Map thread.

Also notice that the truck map has 2 metas, a .meta & a .tmeta. The .tmeta contains all of the truck attributes

If you don't really need Truck features you should stick to a patched original NC on X50 devices.
The 9.510 is current for the 750, so it should work just fine.

Razorblatter made it very clear that he is putting the current truck navcore & truck map on his trucker friend's recently bought 750.

Thank you, tendriver and Downunder35m !
Don't you guys ever sleep ?

The NC 9.70 mod by Downunder seems to work (like a breeze).

I only got into a little bit of trouble when pressing the Skin Chooser.
(I only got three skin options: SF, X30 and X20. No X50. Is that okay? No X50 emu? i Skin chooser opened with X30 so I left it at that.)

The TT 750 froze on the startup image. I switched off by long pressing the power button and could succesfully restart after removing the sd card.
It then rebooted succesfully.
Switched if of, re-entered the sd card and rebooted succesfully and able to choose the Truck map.
So it seems to work with X30. Reskin now reads: 25;25;25-GO x30;slf-Self;18;18-GO x20

One more question: Should I stick with the 5.5277 BL or 'update' to 5.5279 ?

I don't want to be fidgety but, as said before, this is not my device and I would hate it to bring this trucker into trouble when he's far away from home.
THANK YOU, for your kind reply.

In Self mode it will run as a X50 anyway...
Bootloader is fine as it is.

Er...thanks but...

Could you please elaborate on Self mode ?

I have been having a few freezes with the startup image.
Might be related to connecting to and operations on pc.
I can only solve this by long pressing power button, removing the sd card, resetting, rebooting on internal memory, switching TT off and restarting with inserted sd card and changing to Truck map

Any ideas about that perhaps or is that the price one pays for TT creativity? ;-)

Since the 750 is listed as compatible in the nfo, why not simply use the CAB and patch it ;)

Sorry guys, it is only now, after eleven hours or so, that both of your remarks make some sense to me.

@Downunder: "In Self mode it will run as a X50 anyway..."

You are referring to the emu mode SF represented by slf-self in the reskin file?
That should be first one to opt for.
Call me a fool but I did not make the connection between emu mode SF, slf-self.

@Downunder: "Since the 750 is listed as compatible in the nfo, why not simply use the CAB and patch it"

You are referring to the BL 5.5279 which I could switch to on the Go 750?

Would any or both of these actions correct the apparent instability which I thought to observe, mainly after detaching it from pc-usb connection?

Please guys, I'm just a user trying to do good with your advice and tools.
I am not that technical for which two words suffice.

I think the official CAB navcore will work in your 750 is what he means if it is patched along with the maps, no need for emulations to cause problems with the official navcore.

1. In SELF emulation the unit will run as what ever model it actually is. A GO 720 will run as a 720. A Go 740 will run as a 740. A GO 750 will run as a 750. Since the X50 units are the top of the line, you are downgrading a 750, if you run it in anything but SELF or X50.

2. No Downunder is not referring to BL 5.5279. He is telling you that since an X50 is the top of the line, there is nothing to be gained by using his navcore version. You can do just as well downloading [Please Register or Login to download file] & patching it with FastActivate 28.04.2013. This should eliminate the instability issue.

@tendriver:
1. Yes, I understand now. Good to know what the SF emu means.
By the way the Truck NC 9.700 does not contain an X50 emu. I expected that, and hence the confusion.

2. Okay !
Interesting! Thanks very much !
If problems persist I will reinstall official NC and overwrite that with the TT cab file contents.
And patch it of course.

In the Truck Navcore 9.700 topic it is specified that "The Navcore is provided for the normal GO X20 / X30 models, the X50 models..."

Shouldn't this be edited if the indicated TomTom 9.700_Go_Work download directly and officially supports Truck maps with a TT Go 750?

It is not included as from past experience the Truck setup did not work that good on X50 devices.
With a V9 Truck this might be different but so far there little to no feedback at all.
In past releases only dedicated Truck devices and the X20/X30 series was officially supported.
For the V9 the official TT Installer even includes instructions for X10 devices.
So either TT did it properly this time and included all good 64mb devices or not - without feedback hard to tell.
Most X10 users prefer a X30 skin instead of the limited X10 menu.
But I see no problem in editing the reskinning file in my release, simple include the emulations you want to try and test them.
Otherwise use the patched CAB and report how good it works.

The Truck NC 9.700 topic does include the X50 in it's description. I quoted from it.

My trucker will be off riding on monday. He will be using the truck map and I will report if he's run in any trouble.
As far as I could tell the GO 750 worked okay with shutting down and restarting, switching maps and navigating.
I just observed a freeze after it had been connected to the pc/TT Home. But I got it running by taking out the sd card.

Anyway, I will put the patched CAB on it next week and of course I will report back later.
If you, Downunder, see any relevance in providing a X50 reskin in your modded 9.700 NC then I'll be happy to get that tested as well.

If things run amok with this trucker he can always remove the sd card and run TT from the map on the device itself. He will be able to manage without truck details for the time being. :helpsos:

As said before, in SELF mode the Navcore will run in X50 mode on a X50 device.
Here are all, more or less usefull emulations, the available rest won't make much difference in appearance.
36-XL LIVE;36-XL LIVE;slf-Self;17-Rider;34-ONE;35-XL;36-XL LIVE;37-GO x50;39-Start;18-GO x20;25-GO x30;24-GO x40
