TTGO910 question

Postby timhowarduk » Sun May 19, 2013 10:30 pm

Hi, sorry to ask a silly question but I'm new to this game.
Is it possible to get some of the truck features onto an old GO 910? It has no SD card slot so assume changing the navcore is done over USB? What software do I use to do it?
If it is possible I'd hugely appreciate someone being willing to give me an outline of what is required. I'm sure the information is on this site somewhere but I'm wondering around getting confused at the moment!
Thanks in advance.

Current Truck pre-patched navcore is Navcore 9.701 Truck CAREFULLY READ the installation instructions.

Current Truck map is Europe_TRUCK_910_4958 Download & upzip the map. Copy the unzipped map folder to you 910. Patch the map with FastActivate 17.05.2013 CAREFULLY READ the instructions.

That's it!!

Thank you. I have the navcore downloaded. I am struggling to find the installation instructions, the thread just says "patch as normal", sorry but the instructions aren't obviously jumping out. Anyone got a link?!
Also struggling to download map but not given up yet. I will get there in the end!
Thanks again for help.

Did you actually start FastActivate?
I doubt it as otherwise it would be quite obvious....

I get it now, sorry. It was a little bit misleading to say: "Current Truck pre-patched navcore is Navcore 9.701 Truck CAREFULLY READ the installation instructions."
So I went and got the navcore, and was looking for instructions for the navcore. I was working down one at a time!

Anyway, I agree that once you download FastActivate the instructions are obvious, sorry about the confusion!

1.Instructions are in post 1 of the 9.701 link. Not at all misleading! "patch as normal" refers to the unpatched navcore .cab file in line 1, which is downloaded directly from TT.
Pre-patched refers to the downloads in the "Ready to go versions" link.
2. Same answer as in point 1. "CAREFULLY READ the installation instructions" was posted for a reason.

Hi again. Lets get this in the right order
1 - I HIGHLY appreciate your help. Thanks very much.
2 - I didn't mean to offend you. You say instructions are in post 1 of the 9.701 link. I respectfully question that - I can't see them:

The new Truck Navcore can be downloaded here:

Info:
LocalID = ['go720', 'go920', 'go530_2048', 'go530_1024', 'go630_2048', 'go730_2048', 'go730_1024', 'go930_4096', 'go7000', 'go9000', 'go520']-9.701.1238656.1-2033-9.701.go_work.CAB-navcore-GO-WORK
imageID = None-None.None
[Image information]
Birthday = Thursday 18 April 2013, 09:49:51
Image type = CAB
Item number = 9.701.go_work
Item description = CAB-navcore-GO-WORK
Changelist = 1245419
Application version = 9.701
Application build = 1238656.1-2033
Linux kernel = 842337Bootloader version = 5.5279

Patch as usual.

Ready to go versions for the 64mb Models, 32mb models and devices having problems with the computervoices can be found in my installer LINK:

All questions and discussions in regards to this Navcore only here LINK:

If they are there then I apologize, but from a newbie perspective it isn't leaping out. One sentence saying "Install this with FastActivate, download and instructions HERE" in that post would have saved the confusion.

Once I worked out that the (excellent) instructions were in the FastActivate link I was fine and again I appreciate the trouble someone has gone to to document it so clearly.

Thanks again for your help. I'm just trying to help by giving you an idiots perspective on this process and point out how you might reduce daft questions from the like of me!

Regards

Tim

Forgive me, but the instructions can't be made much cleared than this.
First you have a CAB (as offered by TT Home), further down a link for the installer.
Every installation guide in the tutorials and the normal forum will tell you that a CAB based installation needs patching.
The installer has clear instructions inside, same for FastActivate.

We expect our users to spend a bit of time to get used to the terms and procedure we use.
That's why we have the tuts and instructions.
If all that would be as complicated as you state we would have complaints on a daily base, but in fact most problems are just based based on either
a) lazy users
b) users ignoring what we suggest and do what they think might be right
c) users with next to no clue about Windows and the use of the internet

a) we can't fix, b) we tend to ignore once they ignore us, c) we can't always help as the problems are obvious

Guessing that you are none of the above I tend to say you are just overthinking and overcomplicating things ;)
Trust me: You do it a couple of times and you can almost do it blindfolded - it really is that easy ;)
