TTom Go 720 Locking & Freezing

Postby peebee » Wed Oct 05, 2011 1:38 pm

I am seeking some advice in relation to my 720 locking up after upgrading an SD card to a 9205 Navcore.
I suspect that I have a comparability issue in so far as I am running 8412 Navcore on the internal disc but I am experimenting with Navcore 9.205.rider3.CAB-navcore-RIDER loaded onto an SD card with map Europe West 875.3613.

The symptoms are that after transferring all the files to the SD card along with files from X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1 the device boots up and runs OK. I can select icons OK and the sound is working. However, when I select the 'Preferences' icon, using the arrow to go to page 1 of 7 all the icons on that first page work OK but as soon as I select the next page (P2) the system freezes and reboots.

I have used 'Fast Activate' from the SD card to finish off the installation and the map appears to be working fine.

Any suggestions appreciated, do you think running the 2 different Navcores on the same system is causing the problem ?.

1. Compatibility is not an issue in your case. With a navcore & map on a card, the card becomes the default setup when inserted.
2. A 720 only needs the 9.205.cab files + only the ttsystem & PNDNavigator files from X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1
3. NO.

Thanks for that Tendriver. I have now deleted all files off the internal drive, taken out the SD card, loaded a fresh map copy and 9205 Navcore onto the internal drive but to no avail.......it still locks up !. Is there any specific boot loader version I should be using with this setup ?. I assume I should NOT load Switchfiles.zip & Outsourced.9205 files from the X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1.

1. I didn't mean for you to delete the internal. Since you have done it, remove 9.205 from the internal, but leave the map. Copy 8.412 back to the internal. If all is normal, then you know it is a navcore issue. If NO freeze issue, copy the 9.205.cab + the ttsystem & PNDNavigator files to the internal, overwriting any common files. If NO freeze, you are done.
2. What is your current bootloader?
3. Correct.

Thanks Tendriver. I have sorted it !.
It seems that the version of the Navcore I was originally using was either corrupted or was the incorrect version for my 720. I used the 9205 rider3. following advice given to someone requesting the best package for his (US) 720, Now that I have used Navcore SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices all appears to be working OK on the SD card. All I have to do now is some fine tuning with sounds etc.
Matters not now I suppose but I am using bootloader 5.5250 for the 9205 Navcore.
I think I will transfer the SD card contents to the Internal now.

Thanks for your help

1. There is NOT an incorrect version for your 720.
2. Navcore SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices is designed for 32MB devices & has a bunch of stuff in it that your 720 doesn't need. That is why I told you to use the 9.205.cab. BTW, I have a 720 with 9.205.cab.
3. 5.5250 is fine.

Thanks Tendriver for your help. I am a bit confused though regarding the correct Navcore I should have used. Is this the one you meant ?, Navcore.9.205.547817.1.Basicpack.rar.

If so will it load on top of the existing navcore.

I apologize for any confusion.
You had the 9.205.cab in post 1, which is what I recommended for your 720. I just didn't want you install anything from X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1, except the ttsystem & PNDNavigator files.
Navcore SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices is basically an autoinstall version of Navcore.9.205.547817.1.Basicpack.rar.
Bottom line: you have your 720 running, so if you are a happy camper, then go with what you have.
