TTS OneXL

Postby oldfella » Thu Oct 21, 2010 11:46 am

I am updating a Onexl for a friend and have upgraded the bootloader to 5.5229 and system to 9.026.483454.2, 9.004.1804 and 8.417.1255.

Maps are 855.2884

Have installed all and activated via Fast Activate 1.5 for system, maps and voices. Have tried Loquendo Kate which works on my One Original and also Vocalizer voice from Tom Tom. Only standard recorded voices will work.

Any ideas, what have I done wrong or doesn't the One XL operate TTS? From searching various forums seems others have got TTS working.

Edit
At various times the TTS voices were not even recognised by Onexl but when I manged to get them recognised, selected and tested there is no sound. All else appears to be working I have tried various maps on which I know TTS works on my One.

Which NC are you using now? What's in the setconfig.txt file? Where did you got the Vocalizer voices from? Have you seen this post: http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?1133-TTS-Vocalizer-voices-(also-Dutch-Italian-and-German ?

NC 9.004
Voices from Navitotal and Tom Tom
I saw another? version of your post on which the link to Serena was broken. Have downloaded from this post and will try.

Which NC would you recommend? I have only been going off what little info on the NC listings.

Thanks for your reply

On my ONE XL, I use NC 8.544. NC 8.562 is also a good option for a ONE XL.

Use SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices.rar from http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?2831-TomTom-Automatic-Navcore-Installation then see if your problems persist

In my opinion, NC9 is too heavy for a 266 MHz CPU. Therefore NC 8 will run more smoothly on a ONE XL. But you could try NC9 of course if you like.

Thank you for your opinion. Have you tested SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices.rar on your ONE XL?

If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

No, I have not tested that one. I've tested other NC9's and those did not run as smoothly as the NC8's I tried. But I will try the 9.205 next week. I'll let you know.

Then maybe it is best not to opine without having all the facts.

Thank you all for your replies, very much appreciated.
Have 8.412.1236 with boot 5.5229 and running Serena Vocalizer voice from Megalos link, thankyou especially.

Had another problem with 9235584N W&C Europe download from the maps section, after unpacking and activating with FastActivate the map was not recognised. On checking map I seemed to be missing the PNA & meta files so DL 9355842gN, this one worked perfectly. Now close to my ISP DL limit!!!

Cheers All

Edit
May try SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices but little wary as now all working. Will make a full BU first!!!

The TT Team sez, "You are Welcome". No need to be wary, since you know to make a backup.
We will leave this thread open for a while longer for feedback from you.
