Hi, Thanks for the prompt responses guys, I think I've cracked it!
I'd already tried reinstalling from TTHome and copying the Loquendo folder across to the SD but nothing, also tried copying the voices folder but still no Kate, she shows on the screens and you can select her but no sound whatsoever from the computer voices. Had 8 hours sleep, pondered your responses and tried a different method ... I connected to TTHome and deleted ALL voices using the 'manage your GO' option, rebooted without SD and then a second time with it inserted. Next I went into the device files and deleted the residual Vocaliser folder and anything left in the Voice folder, I also removed everything from Loquendo except bin & lib folders and licencecode.txt then I went into the SD Card and made sure there were no Voice/Loquendo/Vocaliser folders and rebooted again for good measure. I was now left with a very sparse Loquendo folder and an empty voice folder on the device. I then reinstalled Kate and Jane voices using TTHome, rebooted and checked to see they were working fine on NC8.351 but still no Kate on 8.398. Finally I Copied the now populated Loquendo and the voice folders across to the SD, rebooted and ......... Kate is there in all her glory!
I think there must have been some junk left over from a previous update/deletion and clearing out the Loquendo and Voice folders has done the trick.

Ah well, the euphoria didn't last long! I took her out for a spin and she doesn't work afterall. If I go into change preferences and change voice, Kate and Jane are both visible, if I select Kate she doesn't work, if I want Jane then I have to select first and then test to hear her voice, if I go back into Kate then her voice is working fine and I can go through the select procedure but as soon as I get back to the menu ... her voice has gone again. Back to the drawing board.

Hello Megalos,
Great Post.
By clicking Navigate to spoken address I get this error on my Go720: Speech recognition files not installed.
How do I install this files?
Thanks

I don't know. This thread is not about speech recognition. I think you have to have the ASR folder and the cspeech.dat files in the map folder.

I think you mean a ASR folder containing a file "support_asr.dat".
But I think it only works with LoquendoTTS voices, might be wrong though, never tested it.

Yes, you're right. Thanks :). About Loquendo I don't know. I think it'll also work without Loquendo, but I have not tested it either.

Thanks to Tendriver and Biggerdave for pointing me in the right direction ... I've finally got my Truck on SD playing computer voices, both vocaliser and Loquendo now work when loaded without any messing around but as suggested I'll stick with Loquendo on my GO520. My initial deduction that there were some corrupt files seems to have been the root cause ... I reformatted the device and reinstalled from TTHome, then reloaded the SD and everything is working a treat. If anyone want's to know the exact procedure I followed then let me know and I'll post it in a more apppropriate section of the forum.

I am extremely grateful for your work in making Serena available. I've been using her very successfully (announces road names in the UK very well) on my OneXL (SD memory card) with NC 8545 and various maps (currently Europe West 875.3613).
However I'm due in France next week and I'd like to use your French voice Virginie while I'm there. Since your original post last year, have you found anyway to make both voices available? Any ideas I could try?

Thank you for the compliments ;-). Unfortunately though I've not been able to find a way to use multiple voices simultaneously. The only option is to temporarily remove the Serena voice and install the Virginie one. Another possibility could be to prepare two SD-cards, one with the American voice and the other with the French voice. That way, you can easily switch between the two.

Only a thought but what about using a scrpit that copies and restores two folders?
One for each voice.
With a new menu entry to switch.

Yes, that could be done I guess. But I don't know how to do that, I've never done that before. If someone knows how to do that, that would be great :).

Not sure if it works as I hope, but if you want to try and fine tune it :
3158
Unpack to the root of the SD.
You'll need two extra folders : Voc1 and Voc2
They are for the two Vocalizer voices you want to use.
If you want to use a french and english voice for example:
Rename the VocalizerTTS folder of the english voice to Voc2
And for the french VocalizerTT folder leave the name
That means french is your first voice and english your second (Voc1 and Voc2)
When you turn the TT on you will have the fench voice active
In the menu you should find two extra buttons : Voc1 and Voc2
If you press Voc2 the voice will be changed to the english voice
Please keep in mind that this only a try and that my knowledge with this stuff is very limited.
The scripts should work but there is no safety in it, which means if you press the wrong button you will have to install one voice again.
You have to know if you currently use voice 1 or 2 and always click the other button to change!
I'm pretty sure the scripts can be modified to include some safety or maybe done completly different to avoid conflicts, as I said only a try out.

No time to try out your suggestion, Tendriver, but thanks; but...when you say
"And for the french VocalizerTT folder leave the name..."
does that mean keep it as 'VocalizerTTS', or rename it to Voc1 or something else?
But the use of separate SD-cards will probably be my quick solution, since I know that will work.

It appears that you have me confused with Downunder.
Downunder's post 28 was directed to Megalos, not you.
