Tutorial on updating old TomTom devices

Postby TTuser86 » Thu Aug 25, 2022 10:51 pm

Hello everyone, I'd like to thank all the NaviTotal.com Administrators and Members for letting me sign in to your group which is the most informed I've ever encoutered on the internet. Recently I inherited two Tomtom devices from my father which are like new condition, The TomTom Go 60 and The Tomtom go 520 devices. The Tomtom Go 60 is able to download the latest maps but unfortunately doesn't have any speedcams installed while the Tomtom Go 520 won't download any map at all and I'm "invited" to upgrade my device as support has been discontinued. I personally use Tomtom on my phone and find it fantastic, so I would like to update these devices if possible as they are in like new condition and i find it a terrible waste that these products are rendered obsolete in such a way. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you all again for your time and courtesy.

Both of you devices are from different generations so they require different procedures for updating:

The Go 60 read this: topic21959.html

The following is a tutorial by Holyhead that I've modified slightly for your Go 520:

holyhead wrote:Before you start read carefully

How to read the chart.
http://www.navitotal.com/topic19485.html

You can give the next procedure a try.

*) Recommended Navcore 9.541 device

[Please Register or Login to download file]

--
1) Make a full backup of your Device in case you want to revert later..
--
2) Extract the new navcore to your device overwriting ALL the files it asks about .
--
3) Reset The Device (minimal 15 sec) and start it till the announcement "No map found"
--
4) Download the map relevant to your needs from here: topic23001.html
If you open the map you see the individual files and probably a folder (brand).
Not a map in a map.
(plain map no speedcams,poi,etc)
--
5) Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your device
http://www.navitotal.com/topic19452.html

Run "FastActivate.exe".
Select 1
Select 2
Select 3
Done.

6) Give a 15 sec reset and start the device if everything works fine
just then you can add speedcams etc to the map

We like to hear the result Good or Bad.
And keep away from TomTom Home.

Thank you fredderf and to everyone who read the post. I will try to update the devices as soon as I return home and let everyone know the results. Can I ask if a 32gb Kingston microsd card usable as storage for our TomTom devices?

Possibly, it depends on the version of bootloader you have installed on your Go 520

So why don't you download a new copy of FA instead of posting sarcastic replies?

We've even given you the link to make it easy.
