My original TomTom One V2 had Navcore 7.
I patched the core some time ago to a version 8.4xx Navcore
and updated bootloader to a 5.5x. ( I will check exact versions
before updating)

I now need to patch the Navcore to a version 9 to use newer maps,
however I have a question regarding the Universal Navcore Installer

The link to the downloader shows the file size as 435M !!
Is this the correct link and if yes, why is it so large? The detailed maps
are only 195M so dont understand why this installer is so large.

for a SE Navcore 8.4 which involved downloading a SE ttsystem 8.4

Is there a similar way to update to Navcore 9.0x and is a SE ttsystem 9.0x

1. 435MB is correct. As explained in the first 3 paragraphs of post 1 of the installer thread, the download includes a bunch of navcores, so you can pick & choose the one that you want to use.
2. OK.
3. The 32MB units don't like the stock 9.XXX navcores. Downunder has modded several 9.XXX navcores to run on these small units. http://www.navitotal.com/search.php?searchid=1340474
