I was passed down a Tom Tom One XL from my friend however the sd card that came with it was damaged. So i have a formatted fat32 sd card.

WHich version of the maps are compatiable with the Tom Tome One XL. My navcore is 8.010.

Maps are navcore specific, not device specific, except for determining usable map size. Every Navitotal New Map thread has a map/navcore compatibility chart in post 1.
It is in post 2 of every Navitotal Collections thread.

Thanks, i have the following maps working on my tom tom United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland_920_5267. However I would like to upgrade my navcore but I am not sure where I can find version compatibility with Tom Tom One XL. Could you point me in the right direction please?

That might be because you already use the latest official Navcore on your device, and everything else can work, but must no - there are no guarantees.
If you want to try anyway start in the Navcore section as usual.
