Update maps on XL IQ Routes TTS* / 340S - 2GB

Sat Aug 21, 2010 1:43 am

My TomTom has 1.0012 bootloader but has navcore 9.056. Does this complicate updating maps? I would like to install the Australia Map 845.

I had tried a couple of times before I saw the warnings about bootloader 1.xxx with no luck so have restored to the below (original) configuration which works fine.

DeviceName=TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition
DeviceVersionHW=XL IQ Routes Edition
BootLoaderVersion=10012
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9056
ApplicationVersion=542741.103
CurrentMap=Australia
CurrentMapVersion=815.2086

Never use Home to check anything on y Tomtom ;)
If you want to check the details of your TT open the ttgo.bif with an editor.
In case you got that info from your ttgo.bif : it will only make it hard to update your Navcore, but it is not affecting the updating of maps.
This file is in the root of your device and contains your device ID, Serialnumber and details to the Navcore like the version number and the bootloader.
I don't think you have a V1 bootloader, if you check corrrectly it should be a 5.5136
If your Navcore is not already patched than we have to try this too, but make a good backup of all files first using the Windows Explorer.
And if you update the Navcore one day : delete the file "system" - it is your bootloader and it should stay untouched on your device, so don't install a new one by accident!

@ Irippon,
Looks like your data is in the .bif format. If I am correct, disconnect you device from your puter. Reboot & reconnect. Recheck the data in the ttgo.bif file using Windows Explorer.

Ok did as tendriver said and got this from the ttgo.bif file:

DeviceName=TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition
DeviceVersionHW=XL IQ Routes Edition
BootLoaderVersion=55136
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9056
ApplicationVersion=542741.2
CurrentMap=Australia
CurrentMapVersion=815.2086

Purely out of curiosity - why would it change?!

Back onto the thread, why have I been having trouble? When I've tried to update, I either can't switch to the new map, or none of the maps work (it previously had United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 8.30 installed which I removed since I'm not there)

Thank you for the quick replies!

 • Ok your bootloader and navcore is fine,
 • Can you confirm you are using a SE version of 9.056 ttsystem ?
 • Download the map and extract to Australia_845_2661 folder on the root of your device
 • Download AutoActivate HERE
 • Copy AutoActivate.exe to the root directory of your device and run the .exe , Wait for it to finish and reeboot your device

At this point in the game I don't know which ttsystem file is currently there :scratch_one-s_head_ - how do I determine that? If I can't make that determination, how do I go about getting and installing an SE version (I don't see it listed in the latest navcore thread)?

If you run TT Home "Operate my device" and go to Status Summary, version, the bootloader version will always read 1.0012. If at the same time, you open your device in windows explorer & open your ttgo.bif file, it will read bootloader 1.0012 also.
By following the instructions in post 3, your device corrected the ttgo.bif to the real B/L version.

Navcore 9.056 is the "official" navcore for your device. There is not a SE verion in our "Latest Navcore" thread. You will need to patch both this navcore & the map. Therefore you need to download FastActivate ENG 19.08.2010 Version 1.4 Premium Edition, instead of AutoActivate. Read & follow the instructions for navcore & map.
