Hi
I am struggling here, and i alays try for so long before i post a question anywhere ...so dont think I am "one of those" LOL
anyway ...

i wanted to give my VERY old TomTom One to my Father in Law, as he does need a satnav, and it always worked fine
i had maps and other stuff on there loads of OV2 stuff ...BUt the maps wee form like 2013 ...so i thought i would update

downloaded new maps i got online "United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_970_7466" and then of course the fast activate and updated it .....run the navcore update and then patched he maps ...BUT all I got was "no maps found" ...so i decided stuff most be corrupt somewhere ...it is the OLD satnav with ONLY small internal memory ...so i followed a guide that says "format it" ..
then put a new system on it

i did this and reinstalled maps and stuff ...but now all i get is no maps found

am i beyond help here :)

thanks

Ed

Support via PM's is not recommended as it doesn't give anyone else the chance to learn.

The 'best' and most reliable navcore is always the official one supplied by TomTom for your device, they provide a good tutorial on how to do that [Please Register or Login to download file]

Once completed download the latest [Please Register or Login to download file] map which already has meta released so you'll have no problems with activation:

Once downloaded:
1. Backup your device using Windows Explorer
2. Move the old map folder from your device to your desktop
3. Extract new map folder to your device (PW: navitotal)
4. Download the latest SpeedCam files & extract both Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.ov2 & Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.ov2.ver files into the new map folder on the device
5. Extract FastActivate to the root of your device
6. Run FastActivate.exe from the device and select options 2 & 3
7. Disconnect device from PC and reboot it....job done

thanks Fred ...thats very concise!!
i need to work out how to "thank" you on the forum though ...cant find the bloody button LOL

I have a nasty feeling with me formating the drive twice and cutting and pasting allsorts on and off ..that I really need to
ignore some of the advice i got on "other" places and follow yours !

but so i start with a clean slate ...could i format it again and then just connect to tomTom home and will THAT put a new navcor e on there ?

last time it put various "files" on there ...but of course no maps ...as its old and I have deleted the originals
but if i do FORMAT and then connec tto home on my account and install EVERYTHING it WILL let me

will i be able to follow your tutorial then ?
i.e will this action have installed the right navcore for me ?

i know its frustrating educating dumbells like me ....I am not a dumba** honestly LOL
its just satnavs are a mystery to me

...and that makes YOU like COLUMBO

I LOVE COLUMBO

thanks in advance

The thanks button is the 'thumbs up' button next to the quote button.

If you click on the TomTom [Please Register or Login to download file] and then click on the 'I don't have a map to download' button, it will show you how to format the device and TomTom Home will then reload the correct navcore (operating system) for your device.

Being as you have no maps backed up, you can stop after step 3 as the navcore will have installed and the device will run although it will say 'No Maps Found'....then follow my tutorial above.

ignore me !!!
i found the full postcode fix
and i REALISED the speed cameras are hardcoded (sort of) and not like my old OV2 files

so now ALL is good !

thanks to you guys..i thought i would write a little ditty

"...
if your TomTom needs some love..
...then go to NaviTotal bruv !
don't try them other sites or risk it ..
...freddy and the boys WILL fix it

navcore problems ...maps all fine,
postcodes sorted in no time
GPSPower ...they just couldnt do it
but Navitotal ..saw me through it

So if things look bleak, don't grab a tissue
Head over here and post your issue
this forum rocks across the nation
