Update TomTom Start 25 by oneself

Postby lanz80 » Wed Nov 16, 2016 8:06 pm

Hello,
I have a Start 25 TomTom GPS, but when I try to update by myself , to add new maps, I find that when I connect to the computer the GPS is not recognized as an external device. I would like to know if there is a way to add new maps.

Regards and thanks in advance

I do not give help by PM. It deprives our other members of a chance to learn. Please post your issue in the appropriate forum/thread. You will get an answer.

Hello again,

I have the opportunity to purchase a TomTom One XL, apparently it can be updated by oneself. But, which are the features to take in consider to ensure that is posible? Maybe the date of fabrication or firmware?.

It seems that if this model has the SD input, so if the internal memory can`t have all maps of Europe, I think that it can supplied with the SD card, no?

Thanks and regards

If it can be updated with TomTom Home (manufactured before September 2010) it can be updated.
If it has an external SD card you can put maps on that will navigate you around the globe.

A ONE XL does indeed have a SD slot. With a bootloader 5.5012 or higher, you can use any size SD/SDHC card.
You cannot use the internal & external at the same time. This means that your SD/SDHC card must have a complete setup on it.(navcore, map etc) With a complete setup, the card becomes the default setup, when installed.

Hi again,

When you crack or update the TT, Could I have any hypothetical problem if I purchase the TT ONE XL to another country that is not mine?. I mean, if there could be any problem with the language interface. Suppose I bought to Germany and I am from England and I dont know any word of German.

Or on the contrary, you crack to update, you have to reset the TT, and you can choose / customize the language again?

Thanks in advance

Regards

No problem. Scroll through the menu until you see pictures of flags, tap the flags and scroll to your language.

Not that I know of.
You could go to the TomTom website with the first two characters of the serial number of your device and ask what software does my device use.
If it says "Home" you can update the device oneself.
If it says "MyDrive" then you can't update your device oneself.
