Updating tom tom One 3rd Edition Australia

Postby AussieRebel » Tue Jul 12, 2011 2:17 pm

Can anyone tell were I,m going wrong updating the Map in my Tom Tom One 3rd Edition
as it just locks up and won,t work freezes on boot and can only shut down with reset unless I put old system and map back on.
Tom Tom Home states 870.3391 is the correct map for my version.

Device Axxxxx Dxxxxx
App 8.016 (9380/080825) OS:223986
32 MB RAM (free: 7.9 MB)
GPS v1.21,Boot 5.5022
Map: 'Australia' V815.2059
Language: English UK

Australia v870.3391 map
1) Connect my device to my computer via USB.
2) Delete the map folder.
3) Make a new folder (still in the TomTom drive) naming it Australia and copy across the contents of the latest Australia map.
4) Download the latest safety cameras and copy across the 2 files into the map folder.
5) Download the latest version of FastActivate Premium Edition. Unzip the file and copy across FastActivate.exe to the TomTom drive (the root of the device).
7) Run FastActivate.exe from the TomTom drive, clicking on all 4 options in order: update meta, activate maps, patch navcore & home.

Also tried with SE_Navcore.8.412.1236_32mb_devices
and 9.101_one

Any Suggestions will really be Appreciated

1. OK
2. OK
3. When a downloaded map is unzipped with Winrar, it creates it's own correctly named folder. It is not necessary to make another folder.
4. OK
5. OK
6. ??
7. Be sure to let each step complete it's function, before going to the next step.

Have you tried a hard reset, followed by the TT clear flash tool?
You might have some "left overs" in the memory.

If you still get problems and want to try a different Navcore :[Please Register or Login to download file]
It is a 9.205 that should work on most devices, except the X50 series and the new models with Navcore 10.xxx
In the default install it provides about 15mb of free Ram on a Go500 and runs smooth.
All patched and ready to go, all you have to do is to add a map folder (and activate the map) and the voices of your choice.

Run FastActivate again and reboot.
If a hard reset and the clear flash tool still don't get it to work, then do the following:

1) Open your TomTom drive and delete all loose files (not folders) except the files ttgo.bif and FastActivate.exe.
2) Run TomTom HOME and download all the updates until no more updates are available.
3) Run FastActivate Premium Edition - all 4 options in order.
TomTom GO 730, Navcore 9.051c, 64Mb RAM, Australia 900.4602, Bootloader: 5.5250
TomTom ONE v1, Navcore 9.170SE, 32Mb RAM, Australia 900.4602, Bootloader: 5.5244

I don't recommend doing this yet. Maybe later.

I've tried this procedure but it didn't work. Actually I've to recocery ttsystem and PNDNavigator from my backup since FastActivate couldn't locate them. With NavCore version 9.205 my XL Canadian 310 N14644 (32MB RAM/ 2GB Flash) is locked in the initial screen (TomTom GIF). Doubt: in order to install the 9.205 I just have to copy all files to my root directory device?
Any ideas,
Rgds,

Should 9.205 work with XL Canadian 310 (32MB RAM/ 2GB Flash, Small Screen)? I've tried to install your file but, after doing the installation, my GPS is locked in inicial screen (tomtom logo). I've copied and pasted all the unzipped files to my GPS root directory. Should I do anything else? Any ideas?
Ttks a lot!!!

You should have taken the advice post 5. What was your set-up & what set-up are you trying to install?

To use this version of 9.205, start with a clean memory (formating not needed). Copy 9.205 to your root. Put a copy of your ttgo.bif file in the root. Copy your map to the root. Patch the map. Done.

Desired Setup
App 9.205.547817.103 OS 1000
(5007, 7/2/2010)
32MB RAM (free: 32.0 MB)
GPS v1.20, Boot 1.0012
Map 'USA_and_Canada' v870.3419 'Brazil' v870.3510

Original NavCore was 8.0xxx working with the same USA map and Brazil v870.3511

What I tried to do in order to work:
1- Delete all files from device;
2- Install 9.205;
3- Reboot OK :) No maps installed :(;
4- Installed patched brazilian map. After that device was locked at initial screen after reboot;
5- Repeat steps 1/2; install my original USA map through TomTom Home;
6- Now the device can complete the boot, receives an agreement screen, and after touch the
"agree" button reboot. It keeps in this loop.

One interesting thing: I can operate the device from TTH, I grabbed the setup information from there.

Thanks a lot for helping.

TT Home "Operate my device" is an emulation/simulation & is worthless for troubleshooting. Go here: TomTom Current Config for newbies Read the instructions. Run this app. Please post the results.

there we go

TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom XL
DeviceVersionHW=ONE XL (v9)
BootLoaderVersion=55138
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9205
ApplicationVersion=547817.1
CurrentMap=Brazil_870_3510
CurrentMapVersion=870.3510
TTGO.BAK:
Not Found...
TTGO.ORI:
Not Found...

I copied my Brazilian map and changed through TTH. Same behavior, it was stucked at initial screen. I've tried to use Clean Flash Tool but it didn't work.

Please explain? We don't ever use TT Home for upgrading a navcore or a map.

You can delete the ttgo.ori file.

Confirm that 9.205 is a pre-patched version & that your maps are correctly patched & each one has both a .meta & a .meta.dct file.
