Updating tomtom one new edition with bootloader 10012?

Postby Saxon8 » Sun Feb 27, 2011 10:21 pm

DeviceName=TomTom TOMTOM
DeviceVersionHW=TOMTOM
BootLoaderVersion=10012
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903
ApplicationVersion=9183

No map info in .bif file but map is UK & Ireland 660.1199

It has 32mb RAM and is normal size screen (not wide). I was just reading the thread about having a bootloader starting 1.x and am uncertain whether anything can be done to bring the map upto date. I don't know what pndnavigator is, can somebody explain that? Appreciate some guidance as to the best way to go (if any). Thanks.

So what it's got already is the max you can have tendriver? Is it not really worth messing about with then? I guess you are stuck on card sizes as well. Thanks.

No. What size SD card do you have in it?

It's a friends and don't think it has a card in it atm? Any updates would be via card though.

OK. Tell your friend to get a 2GB card, if he wants small maps like UK&ROI. 4GB, if he wants larger maps.

Yep, it will be a 4gb if it will take it. Any recommends for what navcore + west europe map to stick on it? Are you limited in any way with this version?

For your unit (one 2nd ED) i reccomend using navcore 8.412 . cab along with appropriate se ttsystem file, you are fine to upgrade the bootloader, 8.412 comes with 5.5128 and this can also run sdhc cards ;)

as for the map that all depends on what sd card you decide to go with if you go for a 4gb card use a fully featured map ie. Western_and_Central_Europe_865_3245 [2416.6MB]

thanks

Well, better late than never. My friend has only just pulled his finger out and gave me the unit tonight with a 2GB card. I therefore followed the ealier recommendations and put on:-

SE_Navcore.8.412.1236_32mb_devices
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_865_3262 (because of the card size)

Boots up just fine, unfortunately I can't get a signal in my bedroom so will have to wait until tomorrow to test it thoroughly but job looks like a gud 'un. Many thanks.

You did good except you should have loaded UK & ROI 865.3245 instead of 3262.

Doh! Okay, now updated and working. I did notice the bootloader is 5.3029. I see there is a ttsystem and system5.5128. Do I take it you just change the latter name to ttsytem and repatch to update to that loader? For future reference only like as it's working fine as it is. Thanks.

Just rename system5.5128 to system, nothing more. No repatching necessary. Bootloader 5.5015 or higher is required to use larger cards. I would install 5.5128 to give your friend the larger card option.
